What are your thoughts on the new Camaro?

Wow, booted from the lounge. I guess we're not allowed to talk about new cars in the CZ28 lounge.
Anyway, I think the prices are very competitive, especially considering it's a nicer car than the 4th gens. It's only ~10 grand more than my '95 cost 15 years ago! With ~50% more HP. Remember, too that even if dealers charge retail for a while, if you know a GM employee, they can help you buy one and save another few thousand, depending if qualify for employee, supplier, or 'friends & family' pricing.
Pick Employee Price in the dropdown.

For example:
Description Code..........................................Pric e
Camaro 2SS 1ET37............................................. ...$30,738.45
Tremec TR6060 6-speed Manual Transmission MN6.......$0.00
Cyber Gray Metallic GBV..........................................$0.00
RS Package for SS WRS...........................................$960 .00
20-inch Midnight Silver Aluminum Wheel......................$0.00
Black Leather SS Interior AFM...................................$0.00
Factory Subtotal .................................................. $31,698.45
Silver Stripe Pkg VZF............................................... $376.00
Hurst Short Throw Shifter VYV...................................$304.00
Dealer Subtotal.......................................... .............$680.00
Vehicle Subtotal .................................................. .$32,378.45

Yeah, I think this thread had a good spot in the lounge. It's not a technical 5th Gen thread or really horribly specific. I think it was better off where it was to get opinions from a lot of people that don't generally visit the 5th Gen forum.

Uh...yeah...the thread is about the 2010 Camaro. That's why it got moved to the 2010 Camaro forum where people do indeed go to talk about the 2010 Camaro.

Another comment on pricing - I just went over to the Ford website. Now, I'm not cross shopping the Camaro with the Mustang - if I'm spending money on a new 2 door sports/muscle/pony car, it's going to be a Camaro. But let's say I was - the Stang, spec'd out the way I'd want it, stickers a bit over $37,000 - in other words, a touch more than the Camaro I'd want. And the Stang doesn't have a 6.2 and a 6 speed manual.
One more reason why the Camaro pricing is very reasonable.

It's your board, you disagree...that's fine. I'm just willing to bet there are some people like myself that don't visit this part of the board as much and liked a more general thread about it in the lounge, that's all.

I am not at all impressed with the performance numbers, Considering that my STOCK Z28 does the 1/4 in 13.2 and that was made 9 YEARS AGO. Maybe it's the weight that drags the new Camaro down

On planet earth, my 1996 Camaro SS totaled around 31-32 if I remember correctly. Definitely over 30.
Then considering the 2010 is over 100 horsepower north of my 1996 Camaro SS, at a price of a "only" a couple thousand more than 13 years ago, plus has more standard features than were even available on a Camaro then, it isn't such a bad deal.
I think it sucks that a Corvette isn't in my range of affordability but I can't compare it to the price of a Corvette 13 years ago and expect it to be the same price while being a better car.
If you are going to talk about price and compare it to what things were 10+ years ago, you also need to consider what you for for that price 10+ years ago. If you cancel some things out, the new Camaro is still a better deal, IMO.

Ok, just got back from the auto show and:
Exterior - Very cool, much better than the Challenger. Couldn't compare it to a new mustang, Ford wasn't there.
Interior - Pathetic. Designer should be fired and GM should be embarrassed to display this car. VERY dark, a slit for a windshield, and (although it did sound good) the radio. I wanted a factory NAV unit, but with this radio, I can't even get an aftermarket unit. No HUD. The quality of material is good (not as bad as the Challenger.)
I was told to wait and see it in person. So I did and wow, I'm glad I didn't order this thing.
I wanted to like it, but oh well. I guess I'll just have to get a Vette.
