Tall doors?

Will the Camaro have high door lines as the Mustang?
And is this a new Fed mandate or something?
I wonder if it will feel as closterphobic, if so. I don't really care for the deep bath-tub seating, or chopped windows.
Just curious...

Re: Tall doors?

I hear ya..tall doors make it difficult to achieve a sleeker look. We'll see I guess.

Re: Tall doors?

Hope not. From the spy shots, I think the Challenger will be suffering this fate too.

They'd better not take away the ability to have your arm out the window while cruising?! That's been one of the greatest qualities of the F-body ... its awesome "cruise-ability!"

Tell me about it

I loved driving my '86Z, the window was so wide and the door was so sleek that it felt like there was open air all to my left.

Re: Tall doors?

I'm more concerned with overly long doors than tall ones.

The high beltline on the Mustang is one of the major reasons I didn't buy a Mustang. It feels just plain odd, like having to look up just to look out. Strange but yes feels like you're driving a coffin. I'm personally not a fan of the high beltline, though the high beltline styling seems to be a pretty successful in the market currently.

Re: Tall doors?

With side airbags becoming standard issue within a few years, so you might want to get used to higher beltlines. Just like you'll need to get used to those annoying headrests like those on the new Mustang & Cobalt.

But is it really the "high beltline" that is doing well, or just the cars in general which happen to have high "beltlines"? I see no reason for actually LIKING this characteristic, other than the "chop-top look" Joelius mentioned, but I'm sure if people could be honest, from a driver's standpoint, tall doors can't be a good thing?

Re: Tall doors?

High cowls and tall doors are unfortunate byproducts of the more stringent federal side impact standards.
