Exclamation OnStar App NOT COMING for the 2010 Camaro

OnStar expands OnStar Mobile App availability to some Model Year 2010 vehicles

Effective immediately, the OnStar mobile app, that connects owners with their vehicles – wherever it is, whenever they want, is now available to download and use with the following MY 2010 vehicles:

Cadillac DTS

Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT

Buick Enclave

Lucerne

GMC Acadia

Yukon, Yukon XL

Chevrolet Avalanche

Impala

Suburban

This will complete the list of eligible MY 2010 vehicles. There are no plans to make MY 2009 vehicles mobile app capable in the foreseeable future.

Please note that Remote Start functionality will only work on vehicles where Remote Start has been factory-installed and factory-enabled.

The OnStar mobile app offers an amazing level of control and connection to vehicles. After downloading and registering the app, owners with an eligible vehicle can use their compatible smart phone to access real-time data from their vehicle and perform specific commands – like unlocking their doors – remotely.

I was thinking about this on the way to work. Perhaps the cars listed above are simply already compatible with the app, and that all you need to do is download it and run it. However, maybe the 2010 Camaro needs some sort of dealer hardware installation to make it compatible in the same manner?

I'm thinking the 2011 OnStar module will start becoming popular on http://www.car-part.com/

Re: OnStar App NOT COMING for the 2010 Camaro

Wow, what a nice fail.

First I downloaded the app since I didn't find anywhere on the Onstar site or the description for the droid that it wouldn't support the 2010 model Camaro's.

Then the description got changed for the app saying 2011, with a note from Onstar saying they would work on it.

Now, a list, without the Camaro and "This completes the list, we aren't planning on making it available for 2009 models"
So my car was built in 2009. It is still the 2010 model.

Ah well. Not that I would have used the app anyhow. Much like I don't check facebook with onstar.

its likely a hardware/software issue.... and no, you cant just swap out the parts. you need to flash the system with the newer software and GM is not supporting that.

I know a few people who have bought the 2LT or 2SS OnStar box out of a wrecked car, and put them in their 1LT, LS, or 1SS so they can have bluetooth...

My guess is, the answer is in the OnStar box....I'm sure someone will try!

In my 08 Yukon, putting in the newer modules, you'd end up with bluetooth... but OnStar is disabled........
