Wait, our friend still apparently has this "out".
So he has that theory going for him. Which is nice. I personally couldn't see the higher horsepower, FI version giving up displacement but hey, who knows right? Then again, the race version that he was so convinced the production motor would be based on was naturally aspirated.

we havent seen the ENTIRE line up for corvette... just because its not the base motor doesnt mean it wont be an option...(z06 Zr1)
obviously gm is testing and developing a DI5.5 for a reason, or else they would have just used a 6.2 LT1 motor in the race cars. and if im not mistaken the race car is based off a zr1 body.....give it time fellas. well see once all the final motor options and styles come out. i lost the base vette.....i still have 2 models left

You are 100% dead wrong (again) on using the 6.2 in the C6R. Team Corvette would never do that. EVER. Period.
You still don't understand why, do you?
It is because the series rules don't f'n allow them to. The rulebook says they are limited to 5.5L of displacement, which is *gasp* exactly what they run.
Now if the rules were to change and would allow a 6.2, you can bet your blind devotion to erronoeus information that Team Corvette would do that in a heartbeat.

i dont think i ever stated that the 6.2 was used in the c6r......
from corvette racing web site.....
A 5.5-liter production-based GM small-block V8 is currently under development and will be introduced at the start of the 2010 season. The Corvette Racing team is continuing its commitment to green racing with the use of E85R ethanol racing fuel.
The GT2 rules require the use of many production-based components, expanding the opportunities for the two-way transfer of technology between the race track and the showroom

I know reading comprehension is difficult. However, that is exactly what you wrote/implied in post #96. See below. I will even highlight it for you

People... get off the "5.5L" conversation. Please... lol
It is exactly the same as saying the new SS sedan will have a 5.9L engine instead of a 6.2L because Nascar Sprint Cup engines are limited to 360 CID.

^ You heard it here first. Do you think they will cut the bore down to 3.975 with the 3.62 stroke, or leave the bore at 4.06 and go with 3.47 stroke for the street motor? Or maybe a 4.057 bore with a 3.48 stroke for a little SBC nostalgia?

GM should concentrate on improving the 6.2L. they wont go to a 5.5L because that would be stupid to be so close to mustang, i'm sure a lot of people have always bought camaros because they always have a bigger engine over the mustang. Also I cant see any reason for GM to make a 3400# camaro because why would they make it to compete with a corvette? And why would anyone want them to make the car with even less cargo & passenger room than it has now?
