I hate misconceptions.

Pushrod engines have been around only about ten years longer than overhead cam engines. If one is ancient, then they both are.

Independent rear suspensions have been around since at least the 60's (Corvette got one in '63; Jag had their first in '61) -- I had a hard time identifying whether those were the first.

Ever been in a car with back-up sensors? They are almost worthless and in no way cure for any rear "visibility" issue without a camera also.

And that's why I said I'd prefer a camera.

The sensors, if well placed and calibrated, are better than nothing at all, IMO.

The Olds Rocket V8 from 1949 is usually credited as being the first modern pushrod OHV engine, since it was the first I-head. There were motors with pushrods before that but since the valves weren't in the head or the pushrods ran outside the block I am not sure of their relevance. The first overhead cam engines were older, with DOHC racing motors from Fiat in 1912, followed shortly by Peugot in 1913, and Alfa in 1914. The Alfa 6C Sport road-car had a DOHC motor in 1928.

Yes, its called more cubic inches.

looks like ford is attempting the same theory with the old stick axle over an IRS .
Yes, its called less mass.

but in both instances they work very well for the intended application It would be nice if we could send both Mustang and Camaro though Seth Brundle's unintentional gene splicer and end up with a Mustang with lots more cubic inches and a Camaro with alot less pounds!
