i like the idea, i dont think it would cost any more to create a unique displacement with existing parts

they did it 40 years ago, why not now

Each of these has been in SS named vehicles. The 325 was in the early SSR. The 346 was in the Camaro SS. And the 364 has been in the Silverado SS, the SSR, and the Trailblazer SS. Not to mention the Corvette, CTS-V, and GTO.

Apparently this guy agrees with me.

The Gen3/4 engines have a very wide range of interchangable parts inside them. My ideas just swap those parts around. GM already has the crankshafts and blocks in production.

I mean, who here wouldn't love driving a modern Camaro with 388cid (LS7 block 4.125" + LS2 crank 3.625" = 387.6cid = 6.4L)

Wait, didn't one of the GTO or Colorado concept trucks have a 6.4L engine in it? I wonder how they came up with that size... Oh yes, the 2004 GTO Ram Air 6 Concept that was at the Woodward Dream Cruise.

They said it had a 389cid motor. OK, maybe they honed the block another five thousandths of an inch and got 388.5cid.

And you can't tell me that you'd be pissed if the Camaro was offered with a massive 415cid engine!

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a new Camaro with a huge engine.

However, it wouldn't be financially feasible for GM to go throwing parts around to make new engines. They already have a good lineup of possible engines. there's no need to make any new ones unique to the Camaro.

and if i was gonna have that big engine in my black 5th gen Z/28, i'll take an LS7

Don't forget any new motor can't just be thrown together....powertrain will have to spend hours and hours validating the tune and then it will have to go through EPA certification......its not as cheap as you think and its honestly a big waste of resources for a company that can't just throw money everywhere right now.

No, but I never said it shouldn't have a big motor. I'm saying that should be the top end optional motor not the mass-produced V8 for the common folk.

Sure, give us the 425hp motor, but offer a base V8 in the SS that is more modest.

If there are ONLY 2 choices and they are a V6 and a 6.2L fire breather, then you can go ahead and cancel the car again IMO. Give us a middle choice V8 with DOD and the sales will roll in. Available HP should be 265/350/425

They need a V6 for a base car then maybe an LS2 for an SS and the LS7 Z28stripped down version go fast no CD,and 600watt systems unless an option and a everything heavy delete option for the go fast crowd (remember Yenko),at the reasonable price so we can insure them and drive em.Also make enough room to work on the darn thing under the hood.
