I guess that settles which is top dog in GM's eyes.
Just out of curiosity, which one came first?
Another thing to think about.. Do you think the Z71 Chevy truck has a higher priority than the Z27 (SS) and Z/28 COMBINED

Hear, hear on that. We'd love to see a Z28 destined for the track.

For those of you not familiar with the SSOA, We wore our white, SSOA shirts at the Heritage Center reception, and were wearing black CAMARO polos at the unveiling.

Re: Interesting posts on the FastLane Blog...

Id just like to say that if you are talking to a group of random people and they ask you what you drive and you say, "Oh I drive an SS" the people are either not going to know what you are talking about or are going to ask you which SS in the Chevy lineup you drive. HOWEVER, if you instead say, "Oh, I drive a Z28" there will be a small murmur and visions of beautiful Camaros on the track and on the street will dance through their heads. EVERYONE associates Z28 with Camaro, SS is only associated with Chevrolet. IMO, Z28 needs to be the TOP PERFORMING MODEL, not necessarily the most expensive.

you can't tell them you drive a Camaro SS and leave them with two visions of speed and grandeur? Is it really that hard to say "Camaro"???
Some people still would have no clue what you're talking about when you just tell them it's a Z/28.

Those people shouldn’t be in a discussion about cars in the first place then....

I was just kinda kidding, but seriously, alot more people know what a Z28 is or at least WAS originally and I think that should again be associated with the new Camaro with the Z28 being the performer and if for some reason its not the top performer, then it should only be outdone by a ZL1...

The Rally Sport was first as RPO-Z22...

so I guess the RS is really the top dog then.

Z/28 is a performance model only associated with Camaro. Just like Z06 is with the Corvette. For those wanting an SS, hope you're more than willing in having top dawg Camaro wearing the same badge as the top dawg Aveo. And HHR.

And the 4th gen SS's seriously dont count in this case, it was a package from SLP that made them happen. All it was was a doctored up Z/28.....for a whole lot more money.....

RS isn't associated with any other model is it? Maybe it should be top model.

And for the record my first maro was an RS

But I will agree on the one fact that you look at a lot of chvey cars and they have SS in them. I went to their website yesterday, there was a Monte Carlo SS, Impala SS, Cobalt SS, etc. So I think the new Camaro should be something that makes it stand out among all these SS models/wannabes.

But its not the exact same designation. If Chevy decided to designate the Cobalt SS the Cobalt SS4 and the Impala SS the Impala SS8 or something along those lines, then it might be a different story. But there is no differentiation between different SS models as far as the SS designation is concerned.
