Not sure if anyone has comparable news or information, but I just received an e-mail from my dealer stating catback exhaust is $1010 installed and the engine cover is $305. Anyone have anything similar or remarkably different. It would be interesting to compare the cost of these options installed from dealer to dealer to form a baseline for future negotiation with dealers to get the best dollar value for the additions.

No word on the shorty headers. They have a GMPP part number but no pricing info that he can find.

Anyone have additional GMPP pricing info?

gmperformanceparts.com has the catalog you can download and it has pricing on most of the stuff in there. as far as the dealer priced parts, my dealer wont have anything on it. seems like their the last ones to hear anything.......i think they just found out last week that the concept camaro had come out at the 2006 NAIAS !!

$305 for the engine cover is crazy! It is worth about $50, just a heavy piece of molded plastic with a little bit of insulation on it.

welcome to the world of RETAIL. people never understand the business of retail and wholesale. you have to pay money to make things and you have to pay money to sell things. there is about 3 people making money off of that engine cover, and every other part you put on it. 1. the manufacturer. 2. the wholesaler and 3 the retailer or dealer. its called mark up. dealers may be getting it from the manufacturer for 200.00. they gotta make some money.

from the pics i have seen of it, its not even a catback system. all i see is 2 pieces. one for each side with a tip and a muffler. so basically its just a muffler/tip swap out.

I get how it works and how businesses in this country work, just think that it is crazy, especially when you can purchase one for a lot less from someone other than a dealer. It is like when I needed a new battery for my '06 CTS. GM dealer wanted $189 for a Delco battery, was able to get the same battery for $60! GMPP was bascially created for GM and dealers to make money and take some business away from the aftermarket companies.

That's funny....I had the exact same conversation with a coworker over that AC Delco battery he was about to go to the dealer to buy yesterday.

Unless is voids a warranty or I can't get it anywhere else..it's not coming from the dealer.

There are dealer outlets advertised online that discount GM Performance Parts. One of the largest is in Texas, but they are not the only ones...

Parts that are validted and don't require massaging to fit are usually higher in price.

If that's the case, I'm going to wait for the aftermarket. Someone is going to come out with something a lot better for a lot less.

i do alot of my aftermarket shopping on ebay. they have alot of dealers on there who sell the parts at very little over the invoice. its basically like buying at cost at the dealership. i used to have a really good hook up at a chevy dealer. i got all my parts for my trans am at cost. unfortunately the dealer went under and now i have no hook ups.
