Or, Chevrolet could always put an option package together and call it the "Enthusiasts Package" and give it a special discount to ensure lots of them sell (and create a few more enthusiasts in the process).
Of course this isn't really quite what some of us here are looking for, but it would probably be good for Camaro as a whole.

BUT, I'd take a ZL1 over a Z28 ANY day of the week!
...with a 427 ... did I mention that yet???

For the record, I wouldn't even look twice at a stripper, it has NO, I repeat NO appeal to me.
On the other hand, I would be all over a 427 Camaro!

From the photoshop thread, one of 99HOSSJOE's incredible photoshops:
I think this would make an excellent base paint scheme for a limited edition.
Jason,
Could we please ask Scott on where we would start with GM on asking for something like a limited edition? Would it have to be completely external to GM, or would they authorize a subcontractor to create the cars, then distribute them through a GM dealer, like the SLP Firehawks?

I would be very interested in a GP. I personally wish they would change the grille for the special edition, or change the grille and lamps and give us an RS, but that might be too much.

Re: CZ28.com 2009 Camaro group purchase?
I think this idea might be taking on a life of it's own.....perhaps too much. From what I've heard Scott say about the cost of developing parts (like a front fascia, etc.) I think we can rule out modified bodywork. I think we'd be able to pick our options just like anyone else buying a Camaro and that's about it. Meaning we'd probably be limited to a special graphics package, paint job, stiched headrests, badging - and maybe a group discount if we buy en masse. Would we all still be willing to do it if that's all we could get?
But even scaled back, I would do it - and absolutely LOVE the idea of factory pick-up for the group. Talk about a photo-op for GM!!! There'd be SO many people that would think that was cool - it really COULD open some new marketing channels. And as an enthusiast, how cool would it be to see YOUR car rolling off the line? That'd be worth it!!!!

Re: CZ28.com 2009 Camaro group purchase?
Okay, I don't want everyone getting too carried away with this because that will lead to disappointments.
Here's is one thing I can just about guarantee...this car will NOT be what everyone wants...
A 600hp targa top Camaro that runs low 9s with the hideaway headlights closed and gets 35mpg for $19,000 complete with a 10 year factory warranty.
...because it is not possible.
We are talking about a few ideas here, and what I have been thinking about for the past year or so is one or more of the following possible scenarios, which I have resources for all...
1) A sort of GP on a factory Camaro from a dealership that is willing to work with us. Nice and simple.
2) A special CZ28 edition of a Camaro that you can go and buy with the extras on it at the dealership, something like a GMMG car. Not so simple.
3) A special edition CZ28 PARTS package that can be ordered at any time and installed by the mechanic of your choice. VERY possible.
A car from the factory with any changes just for CZ28/Enthusiasts is next to impossible. Not to sya it won;t be looked into, but seriously doubtful.
Overall, it is not completely in reality to expect a 427 with all the extras (Like a loaded ZL1 or Dick Harrell Camaro) without the same price tag or more. Let's be more realistic and talk about the things that are more attainable...wheels, graphics, emissions legal bolt-ons, etc. Stuff that would make the car more unique and more powerful but not way out of the range of most enthusiasts.
I am serious about doing this because I do have the resources but I don't want to get in over our collective heads or have it be something that only a few can acutally buy.
Dream big, but expect reality on this one.
