Ordered First Day - VIN Seems High
Hey All,
I ordered my car the morning of 10/13, and I got my VIN today, which is 2G1FK1EJ2A9109247.
Does that mean that mine is the 9247th car made? That seems a little high, since I ordered on day #1, doesn't it??
Thanks,
Z~

Listened to Podcast
...yeah, I listened to the podcast. I do understand that there is delay because dealer cars are being produced, but a VIN of over 9000 when I had to have been in the first 500 (I would really think less) to order??

As for being in the first 500. There's really no such thing with the allocation of cars. You might have been first at your dealer like I was, but depending on when they received allocation, was when your order got pulled. Along with all of the dealer, AVIS rental, and promotional cars that got out first, yours is just not getting out of the que. Believe me when I tell you that there are alot of pre-orders that are still waiting to get above 1100, let alone built like yours.
I don't agree with it, but I'd happily take a higher VIN to get a car that was right off the line instead of getting a car that's been shipped to multiple locations and been exposed to God knows what on the paint at this point. I'm sure my black car is gonna look just great if/when it ever gets here. And since I'm not letting the dealer clean it, guess I'll have even more cleaning to do.
Thanks GM..........

That is correct, there is no list of who ordered first. I also ordered my right on Oct 13th at 9am EST at my dealer, but my car wasn't built until about 3 weeks after production started. It's been sitting in Oshawa ever since and i'm very patiently awaiting delivery.

Is the hold up in QC just to apply the battery cable fix? If so then why not ship it to the dealer and let them do it? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

no thats not the hold up. there isnt really any hold ups any more. its been 2 months of steady building. before it was just slow moving because its a brand new car and you have to make sure there are no bugs in the process.
what does it matter if the VIN is high or low? i dont even have one yet. atleast you know your cars built.

why would you get raped? philly isnt that far from ohio. i could hook you up with my dealer whenever you are ready to order.
ive bought alot of cars off of my dealer, in the last 4 years. ive been after them about this car for atleast 3 years. they decided to give it to me at MSRP and everyone else who orders from them.
