Been away for 8 years!!! New Camaro now few Quetions

So been away awhile, kids are grown and finally got the okay from the wife to get a new toy.
I bought a 2013 2ss Special Edition Dusk Edition only 44k in miles, I'll get some picks soon. My last car was a 97 TA WS6 so LT1 to LS1 and I have a few questions.
1. Are all Batteries located in the rear, or was that done aftermarket?
2. It has a K&N air filter already install on it but there is no cover is there supposed to be?
3. Think rear stabilizer bar needs new bushing may be dry rotted, what is a quality upgrade?
4. What are the major concerns with this car? (LT1 everyone had issues with optispark, are the coils on LS engines good what kind of life?

Thank you all for still being around!!!!!!!!!

Re: Been away for 8 years!!! New Camaro now few Quetions

Welcome back!

A lot has gone wrong here in the past 8 years. Primary group of survivors (about a 1/2-dozen of us) are 4th Gen LT1 owners (past or present). The previous site owners never really updated to the LS1, let alone the 5th and 6th Gens. A few of us pushed for upgrades, but never happened. Not a lot of resources or members for those cars.

Would be nice to pick up some 5th and 6th Gen owners. Hopefully someone can help with your questions.

Fred is by far the best. He is also on FirebirdNation.com. Same car, different trim ;-)

Let’s start by getting something straight: your 2013 has an LS3, not an LS1. The LS3 is a gen4 small block; LS1 was gen3. (LT1 was gen2, and traditional SBC was gen1).

Gen3 and gen4 have a lot of similarities, but the details are quite different.

That’s the stock location!

It’s pretty common for fifth-gen airbox upgrades to use the hood itself as the lid. When it’s closed, it should seal against the top.

Pedders has a lot of good suspension upgraded for fifth gens. I’m not sure if they have that specific part. If not, I’d probably look for something from Moog, or just an OEM replacement bushing from the factory. The 1LE probably has a good one.

No major issues I know of. LS coils are among the best in the business and fail almost never.
