2010 SS Test Drive

2010 SS Test Drive
Last weekend was the annual Speed Festival at North Island NAS, and GM had some Camaros available to test drive on a closed course.
I have to say that I was impressed with the car. The handling is spectacular IMO. I really liked the interior too. The steering wheel and seats were very comfortable.
I was a bit dissapointed in the acceleration. I have a 97 SS and I thought 100 more hp would give me a much harder SOTP acceleration feeling, but it didn't. The car did feel pretty heavy, but at 3800 lbs. what else could I expect.
Overall though I think it is a great car, and GM did a really nice job on it, and if I weren't keen on a C6 Z06 I'd probably get one.

Liar, it handles horribly, haven't you read the other threads?
Glad you liked it. I was the same way going from a Z28 to the Corvette. The power is there, you just have to stay in it. Right off idle it feels about the same SOTP.

I'm sure you just meant this as a joke, either way he is entitled to his opinion and I would agree that it does handle good. You can take or leave my opinion, but I actually back it with the fact that I have driven the vehicle not just read posts about others driving it. Plus I have driven cars on road courses and I know what a good handling vehicle feels like.
I'll agree that the Camaro has a handling mix in a sense between a luxury cruising vehicle and a touring type car, where as the Mustang (which I haven't driven) probably has more of a mix between a touring car and a sports car. Sure the Camaro is a sports car, but I think they wanted to market it more as a luxury touring sports car. Just like I would say the G8 is a luxury touring sedan.

I don't know, after reading what Clean posted I figured the "" in it indicated he was joking...

Well, my 2SS/RS stick is off the train, 100 miles up a main highway from the dealership, so I'll probably find out for myself pretty soon. Odd, to order and wait eagerly for a car that I've never driven, nor even heard start up.

Btw, even I can sense your excitement.
