chipped up rear quarters
Ever since I bought my Black 2SS I noticed in just a few miles the rear quarters started chipping up, I brought it to the dealers attention thinking it could have been a piant mix problem. (retired GM) I ask if mudd flaps would cure this and the service manager replied no, He'll check into it, He got GM involved and took pictures, a few weeks later he called and said GM says put mudd flaps on it, So I took it to GM and explained the problem, they called me a couple of times and I them, at first they would help pay for chip resistant piant repair, now there is no communication, the run around has started. Does anyone have a solution to the piant chip problem as GM will not admit a problem exist?

Yes, clear protective coating is the way I am going, the car is in the body shop now, they repaired the chips, repainted, clear coat, then protective coating, guaranteed not to chip, then maybe some pin strips.

chipped paint
ya my car is going for painted stiping and have the whole front of the car covered and around both front and back quarter panels with the clear protective plastic,gm's paint on theses cars is very subpar,my yellow is actually showing green primer in several places

I had the dupont chip resistant coating(five coats) put on the rear quarters around the imatation vent area from the top even with the wheel well and back from door opening only and seems to be holding up so far but, I should have had it done all the way down instead of just the quarter panel as chips still appear down low on the mud panel. Good luck.

too early chipping
hey, finally someone else, sorry bout ur car but, bought my lt2 sr late april 2010 found front end paint chips early june. i thought the paint would be more durable than this, then what i found next took the cake...fish eyes on side panel and what looked like dirt they sprayed over in several places. took in to dealership, 'top' service guy and paint specialist (?) looked at this and said chips were regular wear and tear! yeah,bull.. i smell smoke. the other crap, they agreed, were defects from factory. they would call in a factory rep if i wanted. said theyed offer me a new paint job. said some parts are dipped others sprayed, couldnt grarentee proper matches, surfaces are different, like hood has orange peel effect (suppose to be this way) and side panels are smooth...blah blah blah...my gut told me repainting would cause me evn more headaches...so i said i just wanted areas seen and documented, for future reference. they typed up service invoice, and i have copy. my brother said factories are using more eco-friendly paint which boils down to sucky paint, damn tree huggers. im sick about it. that my story...so far. what are u gonna do? thanks corinne breece

Re: chipped up rear quarters
I was having the same issue. My local dealer repainted the area and told me they would continue to do so until GM comes up with a more permanent fix. I paid to have the body color matching mudd flaps and have yet to see a chip. I also do not leave the paved road, when passing oncoming vehicles, until my speed is below 5 mph. this seems to be working for me.
