Adding Sub Woofer and amp only
I just bought my 2010 Camaro last week. It is a 1SS with stock sound system. It sounds good but I would like to add a little more base to it. I have an Infinity dual voice coil sub and Kenwood amp which uses RCA jacks. Does the camaro come prewired to add an amp and sub in the trunk? (I saw the mtx sub box on the accesary page)

I too am going to add a couple of tens and a amp. I have not studied the system yet i have the Boston acustics system, so not sure about a stock amp or what adaptor is needed. when I get time to check in I will post some info. I am going to do a fiberglass box on the side and paint it to match the car.

am also very interested in knowing any results. I plan on having 2 10's installed in my trunk with amp and Cap but want to know that when its done the shop will be able to properly connect everything to the factory radio.

I don't think I've ever seen a car that had RCA outs on the factory head unit. You can use a line-out converter to give you a set of RCA's, though. It ties into the speaker wires (usually the rears) to create the signal.

I jus want something like 2 10" Alpine type R's or something with about 500W pwr ... nothing too overpowering. I just dont like the pricing they have for the plug and play sub sytem you can get from GM.

If you have any system with a factory amp you have to tie into the wiring before the amp. I haven't seen anyone in this thread say the factory head unit had RCA plug? There's company that do make plugs to tie into the head unit for that.

the line out converter that shock mentioned isnt that bad...not the best but i used it in my impala for quite sometime and it did sound very good...but if youre a huge bass nut i bet you can tell the difference...mine still sounded better than a few of my friends systems with aftermarket head units

Many of the solutions I have seen out there for adding in an aftermarket amp or sub have been for the Boston Acoustic system. I have a 1SS with the stock sound system, is the wiring or amp in my car drastically different from that of the Boston systems? If so then how do the two differ?

1ss, simply connect amp to battery under spare air pump(no tire), use speaker level to line level converter, available anywhere (Walmart has a 4 channel for $20). Switch the selector to line out, connect rca's to amp and run your remote turn on from behind deck.
