Wife drives our V6 auto 2LT RS.

Drives 100% city. she is getting 23 mpg. She does not red line it on every shift nor does she drive it to get good MPG.

Hey everyone. I am brand new to this site as of 15mins ago. I was glad to see that someone has posted a thread in regards to the mpg issues. Granted I have only had my new camaro a few weeks, I was of the understanding that I was gonna get like 29mpg on the average. Right now I am getting like 18mpg. It will improve over time but come on. I have a hard time believing that I will go from 18 to 29. HUGE difference!! I would love to get your guys and gals opinions.

pretty sure 29mpg was hwy? when they say highway they mean highway. I bet you if you reset the mpg on interstate and stayed on interstate.. you'd get 29mpg or close to it

firegod; not sure what you mean by average, but if you mean the average fuel economy as shown on your DIC, then the only way it's going to show an average of 29 MPG is if OVER 90% of your driving is on the highway(like Klypto said).

I've seen another long thread about 5th gen V6 gas mileage and one of the thing's that seems to stand out is that there is a noticeable difference between what the DIC is telling them and what they are actually experiencing by checking it themselves(miles driven / gallons pumped in the tank--the way we used to figure gas mileage).

For this size of car(the Camaro isn't a sub compact), with a 300+ HP V6, around 30 MPG on the highway is pretty good.

What kind of driving do you do? Mostly city, mostly highway? Do you have a 'lead foot'? Auto trans or manual? Lot's of A/C usage?

What I am mean by average is the difference between hwy and city driving. They say 42mpg hwy and 23 city for a average of 29mpg.
I actually have not checked it myself. I have been going off what the car is telling me. I am only getting 530kms to a tank.
I have a K&N Air Charger on the car so I am actually more like 320hp. I would be very happy with 30mpg.
I have a blend of city and hwy driving. The vehicle is a standard and ya I have been using the air conditioning lots. Its been brutal hot and humid. I wouldn`t say I have a lead foot but I do like showing the car off once and a while. Hahahahaha....
thanks for the help everyone!!

Re: so, anybody have real world MPG figures?

My 2010 L99 is getting only 12.7mpg on mild in town driving. It is supposed to get 16mpg in town. If I was lead foot hot rodding I could see 12.7mpg but I have been intentionally taking it easy to see what kind of mileage I could get. Would be interested in what others are experiencing with the 2010 SS A6. Hwy mileage at 75mph is 21.7mpg.

2011 2SS/RS
LS3 M6
computer avg. 19.8 MPG
K&N filter is the only mod so far

ernieduba, you may want to try pulling the fuses for the PCM (#5 & 20) To reset the fuel mapping. Sometimes (often) if you car's PCM switches to the low octane fuel mapping, it has trouble switching back the the high octane fuel mapping.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ight=fuse+pull

I did & it cured my low mileage & power issues.
