Thumbs up L99 guys...Comp Cams Cam Phase Limiter Kit!

Hey check this one out!

I switched my order from the M6 to the A6 because I wanted to play with the shifting, etc. My only problem was the VVT in the L99 not allowing cam swaps, etc.

I got a Press Release today regarding Comp Cams Phase limiter kits...

The 2007 & newer GM L92 engines utilize Variable Valve Timing (VVT) controlled via cam phasers. Cam phasers are computer controlled cam gears that automatically optimize camshaft timing based on the current engine rpm. While this technology provides tremendous efficiency benefits, it presents a challenge when designing performance cams due to the wide range of valve timing movement and constantly changing piston to valve clearance. As a result the COMP Cams® engineers have developed a Cam Phaser Limiter Kit that restricts the range of cam timing movement from 50° to 20°. This modification provides the necessary valve clearance for serious performance camshafts with tighter lobe separations – while still utilizing the benefits of the VVT technology. The resulting upper-rpm gains are some of the largest we’ve ever seen from a camshaft swap without sacrificing any bottom-end or mid-range performance.
Does that ever sound tasty! According to their web site, it is $220.45 retail

I know this is for L62, but surely it will work on L99 or they will develop a version for it. They would be stupid not to, IMO. Attached is a PDF I made with more info, including cam selection.

I think this might be a mod in my future if it works for L99!

2010 Camaro Track Packages

http://www.mastmotorsports.com/page....ackages&id=117

I found Heads last week on this site linked from GM High Tech Performance. now I see that they have added the Track Packages to the mastmotorsports. I too ordered an A6 and wondered how to improve upon the L99 with the AFM and VVT.

Thumbs up

Jason, how about 500hp with virtually no loss in low end from the L99?

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...all/index.html

The baseline was with an L92 with headers and the truck intake. I'm wondering how the L99 intake will compare? Does it really matter now that FAST has a 102mm intake and TB available?

Wow just wow this is really good news, and I wounder as well how is the L99 intake. But in the end the FAST intake options really make it a moot point

Superflow makes both engine dynos and chassis dynos. Which was that?

500bhp from a cam swap... nice, but not that impressive. 500rwhp through an IRS? Now that is what I call impressive!

I was talking with Comp about this, and the pointed me in the direction of an installation PDF file for this kit that also has more information:
http://www.compcams.com/Technical/In.../COMP4-122.pdf

I cannot wait to find out if this works with the L99!

That chart looks like engine dyno based on the stock HP rating of 430hp, which is about right for an L92 engine, not L92 rwhp.

There is at least one place that is getting 500+ rwhp out of a new LS3 Camaro with a cam and bolt-ons.

I see no reason to doubt that it's possible with the L99.

I didn't say it wasn't possible for 500 rwhp, just that the above chart appears to show engine hp.

I was under the impression that you were basing that on the feasibility of 500rwhp.

I think Comp has a couple that are intended for the L99. Check the PDF attached to the first post.
