400+ hp on a V6?

I was thinking could us v6ers get to 400+ hp threw bolt ons or will we need to go FI? I really want 400+ horses on a 6 but really don't want to go the FI route unless I all else fails...So do anybody have a set up bringing 400+?

eh, I dunno honestly. Heads / Cam might do it, or at least get you close with a really good tune and all the supporting bolt-ons like CAI and Full Exhaust. The problem is after you got to 400 HP, if you make it... you won't have much potential left N/A ... FI actually won't leave you with much potential either as these motors run a very high compression out the factory and are very limited to the amount of boost they can sustain.

Well I've heard of people getting an extra 100hp out of a NA 3.8L V6. Granted it was done with combination of port & polish, Cams, Heads, and stroking.

With the new 3.6L already making over 300 horse. I would say 400 is possible.

Btw - the good supercharger package for the 3.6L can make as much horsepower(425-430hp) as a LS3, without additional add ons.

yea I figured bolt ons was kind of outta the question I just needed to make sure n get some advice before I try and see what STS TurboCharger is all about...it claims 500 hp on the v6 so I guess I'll have to go the FI route....well i'll be known with my v6 running with all them horses.

I have looked into having my LLT heads and intake extrude honed. Not a cheap process but they were quoting me 70-100 horsepower if I remember correctly. That would be for the complete system, intake, heads, and exhaust if headers weren't used. They do have group buys available. I would be interested in participating in that if one were put together.

I think the 400hp may be attainable with a combination of the porting (extrude hone), headers, good exhaust and some tuning. 350hp+ should be rather easy to get.

basic bolt ons should get you to 350hp. 400 should only really be a GOOD portwork on heads/intake and a big cam. **** it you went with something like a SR i bet you could do 425-430.

What are the rods? Powdered metal? If so then forced induction is a bad idea.

i have been talking with SLP and they say the engines are close to there potential with out forced induction. They say there is a little to gain but not alot with bolt ons.

I would go heads and cam first. Then you will have a good strong top end for boost.
