Thumbs up * * Possible GM supercharger accessory offering for the LS3 Camaro * *

I have been told there may be a limited time offering for a GM supercharger sold as an accessory through parts, being offereing as early as Q1 of 2011. GM PERFORMANCE PART, and will void your warranty.

This supercharger is by Honeywell. Before I hear of people not wanting Thermostats in their Camaro's, I did a little more research and discovered that Garrett Turbos, is now called Honeywell Turbo Technologies.

A recent turbo replacement in a customers Duramax arrived in our shop with GARRETT / HONEYWELL on the box.

Probably just building them for GM using specs from a smaller vendor. Still good to hear GM finally pulling their head out of their *** and offering up an alternative to the Ford boys with all the goodies they support the Mustang with. This is good to hear, and could make GM some serious coin that has been going into other companies pockets because they don't offer the aftermarket support of other car companies. Heck Toyota offers a supercharger with warranty for the Tundra as well as suspension and other accesories. Chevy needs to get into the game.

so will this be a typical roots style? that seems to be the type companies go with for factory blowers.

Update - Now told this is a GM Performance parts offering, and will void your warranty.

I am also told it is now available, at a $7500 list price.

It is a flat boxy looking thing...like on the ZR1...

I'll see if I can get one - JUST for CZ28!

Right off the LS9

19244103 LS9 6.2L Supercharger Kit

Introduced in the 2009 ZR-1 Corvette, the supercharged 6.2L engine produces 638 hp.
Now you have the ability to use the same supercharger package with the front accessory drive and build up your own LS or LSX based supercharged engine.
The intake bolt pattern and port configuration is the same for the LS3, LSX-LS3, L92, LSA and LS9 cylinder heads.

The GM Performance Parts LS9 Supercharger kit includes the cast cover and intercooler, as well as the supercharger intake system and a gasket kit.
It is completely assembled with injectors, front pulley and throttle body.

Professional installation is suggested.
The supercharger kit may require minor modifications, calibration and fuel system upgrade.

Note:
Because of its high-boost capability, GMPP recommends premium engine fasteners and head gaskets with the LS9 superhcarger. It is sold as a racing part only by GM performance parts and does not carry a warranty. Installation on a late-model Camaro or Corvette will void the vehicles' GM warranty.

* Note, This kit installation is recommended with the LS9 front accessory drive kit. (#19243524)

So does it come with a new computer calibration or do you have to get the tune yourself after the fact? Looks like GM is dropping the ball not offering a warranty of some sort, Ford offers one the low boost supercharger they offer.

No warranty? that's what would have sway me from buying an aftermarket to buying the GM supercharger.

But since they are not backing it with their warranty... I will have to keep other options as viable... oh well... I love the sound Turbos make anyway.
