Yet another direction for the Z28 possibility?

The fact that this isn't even a rumor yet, leads me to believe that the Z28 is still a part of GM's plan, but I have thought the same as you before so maybe it will happen.

Yeah it would be nice if Camaro had something to compete with the GT's Track Pack, especially with the upcoming 5.0L.

thats what i think. rather than supercharging it, just give it the vette motor strait up no de-tunning, lighten it up and stiffen the suspension up. let ford have the blown gt500 and the z28 can do it N/A.

The Track Pack has won most subjective comparisons with the SS, in large measure, because of it's more direct steering and less understeer. If I were developing a Z/28 package, those would certainly be two issues I'd address first. But as has been mentioned, physics is physics, and masking Camaro's 300 pound difference with chassis tuning won't be easy.

I am almost certain.... as in almost 100%....and no, I'm not crazy.... that there will be a Z28 coming out within the next 18 months. I'd even entertain bets on that.
HOWEVER.....I would not take the risk of betting the LSA is the engine under the hood of the next Z28 anymore.
....
Or... GM will release the Z28 with an LS3 in full Corvette tune (430hp, or even a horsepower bump or unique cam) with a focus on suspension and handling....... in other words, a Z28 that's more like the Mustang GT "Track Pack".

GM currently has the answer in their arsenal with the 480-hp "hot cam" version of the LS3, and also let's not forget about the LS7. The only question remains is if and when GM pulls the trigger.
I already plan to wait until HUD is available (December '09?), however if a Z/28 is coming, I'll put off my new Camaro purchase a little longer.

Just to clarify, any "Z/28 or 1LE type" package IMO, should be a complete and comprehensive package bundled under the Z/28 brand name.
And what I was saying was, however Ford markets their Track Pack and upcoming 5.0L combo, it would be nice if Camaro could have something to compete with it. Because, currently it doesn't.
