Haha I read through the thread and there is a guy in Alaska that ran a 13.15 in his L99 car. He said it was his first time ever to the track. Alaska who woulda thunk they have a dragway?

That's certainly more indicative of what the car is capable of.

This car is going to be king at the track. I spent some time with a friends bumblebee knockoff yesterday(custom stripes, interior yellow accents, etc), and I'm convinced that I'm buying one. The looks alone are tremendous, and now we know that it's a GT500 killer even stock.

Impressive #'s and with just 500miles. I think we'll see even quicker times in the coming months. The potential for a 12.7 is there.

LOL. Ya ok. I'm not a big fan of the GT500, but I am certainly a realist. You might want to try being the same.

I should have said "can be" given a bad diver in the GT500 and a great driver in the SS. Can't remember which mag just ran both at 12.8 and 12.9, admittedly due to the GT500's traction limitations. My point is that with some mild mods, the SS should be competive

Milds mods on an SS could absolutely make it competitive with a stock GT500(at least in ET - which is what gets you to the finish line first anyway).

As you stated, that cars biggest issue (outside of tonnage) is poor traction.

Maybe not an SC and maybe not always mild. Let's see what a LTs and a super tune does with this "traction enabled" platform. If we don't overwhelm the tires like the GT500 does, there maybe a good amount of forward go pent up in the stock drivetrain. I like the dyno numbers that the tuners are coming up with on NA set ups, but lets see what that translate to at the track!

With a $13,000 price difference, that leaves cash for some nice mods

Now that's how you break in a new engine!
Good air and driving make all the difference even on a tight new engine.

From the thread it dynoed at 365 rwhp so it's not like the car is a factory freak.

A 2.0 60 ft is very good but not impossible to get so we are defiantly going to see a lot more stock 12 sec slips as the weather cools and some cars get broken in.

Nice 60' time considering the stock tires. All I could manage on a non drag tire were 2.2 with a worst of 2.4. Drag radials knocked off a little more than 4/10ths.
Does GM still use torque management with these cars as well?

I was always taught that a 1.6 was close to perfect and that a 2.0 was terrible. I always got 2.0 because I was too cheap for drag radials!
