Not too bad, but I wonder if 1LT or 2LT will be the base trim? At that price I assume there won't be an LS. Be nice for 30 large to have at least 1LT RS as the base model 'vert...

That cannot be right. That means a 2SS/RS Vert would run close to 50K. No way people will pay that. And a vert Z/28 would damn near be 60K? That's Vette Vert territory. When I ordered my 1SS auto vert a few weeks ago, I was told pricing should be within a grand of a comparible Mustang. Don't know if it's worth it to me to spend 38K on a 1SS vert. When I can bump a few more grand and get a Vette. Heck, I could even get a 69 Vert cheaper than a new one.
Chevy might just have priced themselves out of the market on this one.
Time will tell. I will reserve final judgement until the actual prices come out.

"The Camaro Convertible will arrive in Chevrolet showrooms in February 2011. Starting price will be $30,000, including $850 destination. (Full details will be released later this year.)"

I know it came right from Chevrolet. The only caveat is that it does not specify what version the 30K starts at. If this is a base entry level convertible they have priced most everyone out of the market. Mustang starts at 27,145. Almost 3 grand less than a Camaro. Just priced a GT Mustang in the same config that I ordered my 1SS in and it came to $36,885. Now if the Camaro is 3K more than a Mustang, that would put my 1SS Red Jewel at around 39,900 or so. Not including tax, title, and license. Am I the only one else that thinks a 3 grand premium over the competition is stupid? Granted, I am getting mine at invoice so at least I will save about $1300.
I guess we just have to wait and see what the true prices will be come this winter. If this is the case, Chevrolet just might have pushed me over to the Mustang.
Very dissappointed

Just found this online. Makes more sense now if this is the case about the price.
What 2011 Camaro Converitble wll you get for $30,000?
The absolute base model Camaro Coupe has a starting price of $22,680 so if the 2011 Camaro LS is the base model convertible that would give the topless version a markup of $7300. That seems a little high, considering that the Ford Mustang Convertible runs about $5,000 more than its hard-topped counterpart. With that in mind, perhaps GM doesn’t plan to offer the LS trimline and perhaps the 1LT trimline will also be bypassed. If the 2LT trimline was the base model 2011 Camaro Convertible package, the convertible option would add just under $3,000… giving it a fair comparative advantage over the 2011 Ford Mustang.
On the other hand, if GM does offer the LS trimline as the base 2011 Camaro Convertible with a price increase of $7,300 over the coupe, that would translate to a price of $38,000-$42,000 for the Camaro SS. The similarly powered 2011 Mustang GT Convertible has a starting price of $34,645 and the entry 2011 Camaro SS is only around $1,300 more than that so I would be shocked to see the 2011 Camaro priced that much higher than the similar Mustang GT.
General Motors has promised us that the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will meet the world at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show with full details on the model expected to hit before the big LA Show. The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will start showing up in dealerships around February of 2011.

I thought it was established some time ago (perhaps by Camaro Scotty? I forget) that there would be no LS, steely-wheeled version of the droptop.
The droptop will start as a 1LT and go from there. I swear there was a thread about this a while back.

I thought I read the same thing.

To me, I can't think of a logical reason to not offer a LS convertible. Base Mustang Convertible is $27995 (including destination) and that is for the lowest entry level Mustang. Ford is not starting it at the V6 premium level which is what it looks like Chevy is doing. Chevy should attempt to stay closer to the competition with their pricing for the Camaro.

I think ordering has already begun and they're targeting delivery for February 2011 (at least that's what I thought I read somewhere).
