UNSUBSTANTIATED rumour of mule sighting at...
On a private message forum that I frequent there are UNSUBSTANTIATED rumours of a sighting of what looked like a camo'd test mule on a truck close to the Nurburgring. No one saw the car run, no one has pics, and it could very well have been the new Supra they were looking at for all they know.
But I told people on that forum that I would ask here if anyone has heard anything about a camo'd test mule in Europe?
I'm thinking its too soon no?

I'm definately not saying that they are the "end all" "know it all" of car stuff, but Motor trend has had a couple articles stating that all of the development and testing of the new Camaro has been moved to Holden, in Austrailia. According to MT a complete PRODUCTION car was completed around Christmas/early January of this year. I've been searching and hoping for spy pics, but have not found any. Rumors are what they are, rumors, but I believe all testing of the new car is to be done "down under"

I knew I read it somewhere:

As kind of a side question, is there a place to introduce youself around here? I didn't really see a forum for that???
Cost has been an issue for Camaro. But GM sources say entry-level versions will retail from about $21,000. That's because they'll use the cheap-to-build pushrod 3.9-liter V-6 as the entry-level engine. Insiders say Tom Stephens's team at GM Powertrain has been working to improve the refinement of the 3.9. Mated with the six-speed-manual or automatic-it should be a much smoother package than the trucklike 4.0-liter V-6 that powers base Mustangs.Holden boss Denny Mooney says Camaro mules are already on the road in Australia, and the first prototype body-in-white was completed in early January.

Nurburgring isn't a very secured place for testing nonproduction cars. Kind of overrated IMO. But I guess you have to fly a car over to Germany to test its roadworthy-ness here in the US.
I was shown pics of a GM testfacility here in Texas. Maybe they will take it there?

The Ring offeres more challanges to a car suspension on one lap that you will find anywhere else. If you can tun it to that tracks surface, hills, curves, and elevation changes you can drive it anywhere.
As for a car being there it is possible but I would guess it would not be in a Camaro body this early for public testing. I would expect it would be under different skin. They are testing over ther as they did send the new Blue Devil over after the guy fromt he shipper took it for a parking lot ride and photos.

Just seems a bit early but who knows. I have no doubt that GM is testing components to the Camaro in GTO's, Vettes, G8/Commodore for things like suspension, engine or HVAC. But I doubt the whole package is together yet and certainly not ready for the Ring! I'd say this time next year woulf fit better.
