Re: Should the concept V8 Camaro be called an SS or Z28?
Just for the sake of argument, SS gets my vote. Since the Concept Camaro is retro and mimics the 1st Gen. Stay with the theme. 1st gen SS cars ruled the drag strip with big block power, not the "little revvy small block" 302, that was in the Z/28. It needed 4.10-4..56 gears just to be really competitive with the big dogs on the drag strip, where torque is king...Personally Id like to see a 400 hp LS2 in a lighter weight package with "huge by large" brakes and an M6; call it a Z28. Take a detuned LS7 making 475hp, add a A5/A6 (A4 to keep cost down) and a bunch of options; call it an SS! Charge $42K for the SS, and $24K for the Z28, and $20k for the V6 (which needs to make at least 250hp so its not obsolete before it gets to market) JMHO

I like it, except I don't think the Camaro will get an I6 for its base motor unless the engine bay is long enough to fit it, and the I6 is making more than 220hp by then.

See I duno, though I love your plan, It's great but for some reason, The SS is stuck in my mind as being the KING of the Flock per say. The z/28 was always that one in the middle with the same thing as an SS just no body package or ram-air intake. I Duno I think the SS should be on top again, sounds meaner, true chevy screwed the title SS by putting it on everything but true Chevy guys know what SS really stands for: CAMARO not that frickin cobalt BS or any other v6 wana be super sport
