Rumor about red RS at Indy
#18
In the interest of stopping any rumors:
We ordered this car for Chevy Shows and Exhibits -- as an SS/RS.
Keep in mind that this was last year..........
With the advent of $4 gas -- and knowing that we have to appeal to a wider audience, it was decided to 'convert' it to a V6 coupe.......
So the car was changed in terms of appearance -- but the V8 still lurks under the hood.
No -- you cannot get a 'non- SS' with a V8.

Someone remind me what the differences are on the outside between an SS/RS and a RS.
-Mail slot
-Bigger exhaust tips
-???
Different spoiler? Wheels (I'm thinking the wheels are the same 20 inchers). What am I forgeting?

SS will have silver "SS" badges.
SS/RS will have red "SS" badges.
SS nose has non-functional "mail slot", there are little "hips' on the corners just above the fog/driving lights, the lower opening is larger with different grille treatment, and the lower lip is more pronounced in a air-dam/splitter sort of way.

The red RS that was revealed in Royal Oak also had an LS3/TR6060 powertrain (right down to the SS wheels and tires), despite having a V6 body. Probably the same car.
One good way to tell is to look at the shift pattern legend. If reverse is on the right, it's a TR6060, which means it's a V8. If it's on the left, it's the AY6, which means it's a V6.
If it's an auto, I don't know of any way to tell without opening the hood.
