Real World Track time comparison

I am very curious to see the challenger srt8 track times: I have looked around the internet and dug up 13.3-13.7 real world numbers.

425hp 420tq and 4140 lbs gets you mid to low 13's

With the Camaro SS at 422hp and 408tq and 3900lbs gets you maybe bit better.

Anyone else have real world numbers from the Challenger ?

the thing is, 6.1 Hemi's make pretty good power up top for a good amounts of RPM's, meaning when matched up against another car making the same peak #'s (Camaro LS3's) the Hemi will walk it, all other things being equal. That being said, their low end is somewhat lacking (relatively) but from a roll they are pretty good.

What's the Challenger's suspension like compared to the Camaro in relation to track times?

I don't know what you're talking about but the LS3 makes better average power up top than a hemi does. making 375+ whp from 5200 to 6500 with a peak of 388 isn't exactly bad....

LS3s are solid 420-430 whp engines with boltons.

why does a G8 GT with a tune run with an SRT-8 challenger?

The dyno graph I showed was probably the worse SRT8 you'll ever see, most are in the 360-365 range.

The LS3 makes 375-385 rwhp in the corvette. in the camaro it makes 8-36 less hp. Did you forget that? I specifically stated CAMARO. The Hemi makes ~360rwhp through what is thought to be a more inefficient auto, but even then, an auto camaro should put down only ~350 rwhp while the manuals will probably be only about ~370-375 rwhp and the manual challengers should be about the same, but that one is harder to tell since the Hemi isn't a SAE certified engine.

And the 6.1 Hemi has shown to be equally responsive (expensive to boot) as the 6.2 LS3 when it comes to mod's.

And what does a modded G8 GT have to do with anything?

No doubt the 6.1 is a fine engine. For that matter, I personally really dig the Challenger. I still think the Camaro SS will be faster, stock, than a SRT-8 Challenger, but I believe it will be close enough to be a drivers race.

I think they will be < .2 / 2mph of each other, maybe even closer.

Almost equal IMO, with a small nod to the camaro.

Closer than any two cars from the factory being compared to each other that I've ever seen, atleast, that I can think of.

You may very well be right. I think it will be fun to see a couple stockers face off in the 1320.
Saw an Orange Chally in St. Louis the other day, car definitely has road presence.

That just shows why the SS is such a good buy (if indeed it does come in, price-wise, where we all think (hope?) it will)!

Seeing where the competitors are priced at, the Camaro SS SHOULD be ~$29,900 or so.

How about a stock G8 GT vs SRT8?

Really? I haven't seen much as far as real world numbers for modded Hemi's yet.

I have seen LS3s put down 475 rwhp with just bolt-ons, and a cam only LS3 Vette put down 490+ rwhp. Hard to imagine a Hemi put down better numbers than that, but if so, good for Dodge.

4200 pounds and big heavy 20 inch wheels don't help the track times much.
