Here is a Clip from the show fifth gear about the Vauxhall Monaro (GM's european version of an austrailian car, AKA GTO).
Purhapse they'll give us a LS2 SC too?

I think I'm starting to believe in the possibility of a supercharged Camaro

Yeah, I was kind of wondering the same thing.

........not to step on the Corvette's toes maybe?

You'd think it would be a natural for any GM car that can take an LS2. Kind of surprised GM had it available "over there" instead of here in the horsepower hungry U.S.A.

"1st gear does 75mph. So the rest of the gears are simply for determing just how angry the police will be at you"

That car not being offered in the US is a crying shame. $36,995 for basically a GT500 with a useable back seat. Simple unbelievable.

One can only dream about getting a Camaro with a S/C V8 and 500hp for 36 grand.

No question about it.

Maybe they didn't offer it becasue of the already lack luster sales of the GTO; however, i guarantee if they would have had a 500+ hp GTO for under $40k they would have had no probelm getting rid of them.

that 75 in first gear had to be a typo. maybe 75 km/h in first gear. the transmission was the same in all monaros and it will get you into the 30s at the most. its just an ls2 with a 2.95:1 first gear and 3.42 rear end

I never cared too much for the GTO's styling, but that review could have changed my opinion. Very enjoyable review to watch.

I'm pretty sure "Fifth Gear" is a British show, so I'm assuming the price they quoted was in Pounds, not Dollars. Not sure what the exchange rate was when the video was made, but it seems to average lately between $1.75-$2 to the pound. But I figure they probably consider a V8 an "exotic" so they're willing to pay a premium.
