I was planning on getting a new Z28,or maybe a COPO style stripped down SS and since not sure if Chevy will produce a Z28 I've gone ahead and pre-ordered a ZL1. You guys may have to update the header to 12/13 model cause they goin fast.My longtime local dealer and I have been talking bout this since they were announced.My HHR SS Panel was due It's 25k service so it was time to make the move and lock in the only one my dealer will get as of now anyway.We're not sure if will even be a 12 or 13 model yet.Interestingly not a lot on the option sheet.I'll save ya the details but I ordered a real triple black coupe,6 sp,12 spoke black forged wheels,black leather with suede inserts and wheel,an option,custom cover,also optional.Im now In limbo on delivery date or even year so we shall see.My HHR SS was custom ordered and took about 4-5 months to arrive.I'm not sure about weeding out the herd yet.My 68 SS clone lacks paint and some final tweaks.A recent purchase of the blk 69 Z/28 I de-cloned needs a lot of resto work.My orig 99 SS needs only a repaint.Oh yeah....as I ordered ZL1 about 57k.

Congrats on your order. My order was just recently picked up for production (I'm at status 3000).

Mine will be a 2012 Camaro ZL1 Black with Black interior with Suede inserts. 6 speed manual transmission. The only other option I think I got was some ZL1 floormats.

ahhh, chris your getting a zl1? nice. black on black is gonna looks soooooo sick. id probably go with white if i was getting one.

The purists will wonder of my triple black reference..yes triple blk refered to blk vinyl top,interior and paint.I don't think anyone in their right mind would option a vinyl top after all the mayhem we see on restorations.Well,maybe on a big Buick for ma- maw right!I'm a little worried about the future of performance cars in general.Some predict there will be a decline in such cars in the near future. With the economic trends and fuel prices,government fuel mileage requirements their days are surely numbered.I'd like to mention the HHR SS Panel I have will pull down 32 mpg on the interstate if ya leave it on cruise..which is tough on yer ego when soccer moms in minivans blow by ya at 80...but ya must resist the urge so ya can make payments on the new toy or your project cars.I'd also like to say I will never own a car that dosen't get rode hard and put away at least well exercised?? No trailer queens boys!!Also like to wish all a happy and healthy new year and dreams do come to those who put the forth the effort.See y'all on the road and be safe out there.

Vinyl top? I'm pretty sure there will be no vinyl top option for the ZL1 coupe.

I too wondered about the triple black reference, as that is often used to describe convertibles (black body / black top / black interior). I'm still confused by your follow-up, though? Were you just kidding, or were you considering an aftermarket vinyl top option, or ??
