After you learn to spell, I think they should revive the IROC series.

Grand-Am. And American Le Mans.

If for no other reason than to beat out those elietist punks who dont think a Camaro can get it done.

I think a GT3 effort in ALMS would be cool as well as a revived Trans Am series.

it would seem to me that if they campaigned in gt2 in alms, it would still conflict with the corvettes in gt1. it could work but i would think it would be better to campaign in the rolex sports car series. the gto will be leaving an empty slot to fill...

International Race of Champions?

Why not make it a Rhys Millen car?

I can't believe nobody has mentioned NHRA Funny Car. I can't wait to see an 8000hp 5th gen!

Grand Am GT. That's about it. ( I like the idea of Pro Stock and F/C in NHRA).

Can't compete in SPEED WC GT, 'cos it'll compete against the Vette. The TC is for 4 doors. No place for it in ALMS, either. There're of course grassroot racing levels it can enter in (SCCA T2, Mustang-Camaro Challenge, AV8SS...)

I agree to enter it wherever Mustang is competing.

Of course, ideally SCCA (or whoever owns it), brings back Trans Am, since we'll have Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger very shortly.
that'll be mighty suhweeet!

Speed WC is my vote. With Trans AM dead, Speed WC is the best production based series out there IMO and its growing. Although the 'vettes are in there, the C6 platforms will have aged by 2009 and if GM offered a factory backing like their CTS-V program it'd offer a great platform to showcase the Camaro. If GM enters the Camaro, I can garentee Ford and Dodge will follow.

Would be nice to see it start with grass roots stuff. For example, Mustang drag racing dwarfs any other single model in this regard. It has to help.

I don't see why a Camaro entered in the GT class for the ALMS would compete against the Corvette. It would be going against Porshe, BMW, and whoever else races in that class. It wouldn't be competeing with the Corvette. Just imagine the advertising when both Camaro and Corvette win their classes at Daytona or Sebring.

Actually, you're right. It could compete in GT2 class with Porsches RSRs and GT3s, M3s, Ferrari F430s, and Panozes. Tough competitions, and different buyers demographic, though.

In Speed WC, it will have to compete in the same class as the Vettes. And that will never happen (unless, as noted, the Vettes somehow don't compete by 2009/2010). No Corvette owner would want to hear a Camaro beating their Vette.

Whatever happens, I hope GM helps private teams by developing the Camaro (to compete in races). Like Ford with the Mustang.

there is actually a first gen in formula D. i think a camaro in drifting would be a good idea.

Mushasi: Speed Touring Car challenge isnt limited to 4 doors but 4 passengers. its more a matter of power/displacement between the 2 series. i went to the site and looked up the official rules:

Grand Touring (GT): Includes a variety of production displacements with no maximum. Forced induction is permitted and is used to equalize individual models. Sedans, coupes, convertibles and two-seat models are permitted. The cars can be rear-wheel, or all-wheel drive. Class horsepower range is 425-550 bhp.

Touring Car (TC): Cars up to 2.8-liters that are naturally aspirated are permitted. Forced induction permitted as if it came that way from the factory. The cars can be front-wheel, rear-wheel, or all-wheel drive. The cars must be able to seat four adults, and convertibles are not allowed. Class horsepower range is 225-275 bhp.
