Nurburging Z/28 listed home page

I have no idea how to embed a Youtube video here. I hope this works. It's the "Nurburgring Lap Times: 2014 Camaro Z28 Tops Published Times" listed on the home page.

Nurburgring Lap Times: 2014 Camaro Z28 Tops Published Times | Chevrolet - YouTube

If you haven't seen this yet then treat yourself right and watch it. Now.

Go to Youtube itself and look at the comments below video. Some big time worship going on there. Mustang fan. Corvette fan. You simply hate the Camaro. You have to give this car it's props. Impressive.

Question: what is the display in the lower right corner? Does that show us how many G's the car is pulling? If so, it passes 1g quite often. Just wow. Just freaking wow.

7:37.47!!

The ZL1 was 7:41.27. Seconds mean a lot more at 150+ mph.

Top speed touched 160...but note the rain at the end. Who was that driver with guts make of iron?

And yes, in the lower right corner of the screen shows the vehicle dynamics including g's.

Dear lord help me. I've watched that video several times and I'm about to watch it again. It's just bad ***. Like the youtube comments say, the driver has a pair the size of bowling *****. In the freaking rain at the end for Pete's sake!! Even the exhaust note of the car is freaking awesome.

Camaro5 did an overlay of the Z28 and ZL1 runs and the Z28 was 6-7 seconds ahead before the back straight and the rain. The Z28 should be good for sub-7:35.

Re: Nurburging Z/28 listed home page

I havent seen it. Someone commented about it on another site.

According to Al Oppenheiser, it would be up to 6 seconds faster if the track was dry.
"One of the challenges of testing at the 'Ring is that the track is so long that conditions can change radically in a single lap," said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. "Adam Dean, the development driver for Z/28, did a heroic job driving in deteriorating conditions. Based on telemetry data from our test sessions, we know the Z/28 can be as much as six seconds faster on a dry track."

I watched this during lunch today at the office. It was just like I was in the car. It really brings home the endurance and energy required to pull this off -- on the part of the human driver. Truly badass.

Re: Nurburging Z/28 listed home page

So Adam Dean drove the car? Talk about a guy with a story to tell. Just watching the video is a thrill. I have no comparison for what it would have been to be in that car during the ride.

Can Chevy go back and do another run under better conditions? I wonder if they want to? Major bragging rights are at stake here.
