I saw something a while back that it was going to be offered at the dealership as well as on certain models from the factory...Time to find what I read and see if I misread it.

I find myself wondering what you think they've been doing since the incredible reaction to the concept in 2006 made production a viable possibility. I believe I remember Scott saying something to the effect of "we're taking our time on this one to make sure it's absolutely perfect." So my thought is that they built the first of the prepro cars and started relentlessly tweaking as soon as humanly possible after that big reaction and have been using these...what, about 2 years or so now...to "work the bugs out".

I'll be ordering as soon as I can scrape together a deposit, and the "don't buy a 1st year vehicle" concept be damned. I may have to eat those words if you turn out to be right, but I'm not exactly concerned that it'll turn out that way.

you'll probably be alright. My dad's 05 C6 hasn't had any problems, but it doesn't have many miles on it at all either.

No matter how many tests or trials you run, there's no way they can work out all the bugs that get exposed in real world use. Look at the 1993 and 1998 F-bodies. Both of them had bugs that were worked out the next year. They also had some improvements every year, but I think the first years were plagued the most. You might also want to note that the Corvette had those engines a full year before the F-body, so for those issues you can add another year of road tests to find the issues.

I'm not saying to keep waiting and waiting because you have to buy sometime, but if you just look at the history of GM's new releases, it's just a better idea to wait at least one year. (Also see the GTO )

To certain extent, yes, however, a reminder:

1st gen. Camaro:

Year 1 = 1967 good
Year 2 = 1968 better
Year 3 = 1969 best
Year 4 = 1970 Oops waited too long.

Buy in year 2 or 3 if you can stand the wait. I'm not sure I can.

The first thing holding me back from ordering is I'm not sure about the color; I need to see them in person.

The second is price; I expect some discounts from MSRP once the excitement of the initial release is over. Maybe by the end of next year even. For sure the following year.

Third, I expect some upgrades in second and third year.
I predict third year will be the sweet spot before things start going downhill due to gas prices, CAFE, etc. etc.
