I swear thats a rear suspension issue on the S-197 and I'm pretty certain its due to the rear upper control arm, but who knows???? The LSA might just have alot more under the curve (so the speak - we are talking 6.2 vs 5.4 and some gearing advantage possibly).

That could very well be the case. I get the sense that Ford is currently willing to invest in Mustang's D2C architecture in a MAJOR way, in order to reduce it's mass. Now that GRWD is dead, this will be the specific Mustang architecture for the foreseeable future.

Hmm this thread got kind of nasty.

I love camaro....my first car was a Camaro. A 1989 IROC-Z with the 305 and a manual...which I blew up and replaced with a vette 350. That car was fun and tossable. The '95 Cobra that came after it was too.

But you know what...my current car, an '07 AWD $16k Suzuki SX-4 outhandles both of those vehicles, the IROC-Z by a large margin. No, it does not pull as good of skidpad numbers but handling is more than the skidpad.

Engineering has come a long way. I know that the new Camaro handles great. Better than anything I've personally owned. And most of the reviews I've read have it as able to cross real world streets just as fast as the mustang, due to the smoothing-out and confidence inspiring IRS, even if the mustang has an edge in road feel and transient response.

I have not driven it yet, so I know I really can't talk, but I think that if it were tuned just a little different in the suspension department it'd put it over the edge. It's certainly a much better LOOKING car.

But honestly...if they just took the SS and outfitted it with a better suspension tune, maybe replaced the roof with aluminum, cut some sound insulation, and put in some lightweight street recaros and a louder, lighter exhaust set up...that'd cut like, a small person's worth of weight from the car and probably make it feel so much more visceral. I think that might have been a better direction for the Z/28 and I would totally buy that in a heartbeat. That appeals to me a lot.

Maybe in some kind of special edition package a few years down the line?
