Unfortunately, I'm a cynic and am a little afraid of the same thing.

I would like to think that GM learned their lesson about too many engine options during the thirdgen years. Half the reason that the thirdgens got a "slow" reputation was because Mustangs would pound up on LG4 and L03 cars and think that all thirdgens were that slow. GM wised up when they released the 4th gens with only one V8 engine. That way ALL of their cars would whip a mustang.
Then again, thirdgens were the best selling f-bodies in history, so what do I know?

Actually I think it's just the opposite. With the 4th Gen they learned that too few engine options hurt sales. It was a quantum leap between the 3.4/3.8 V6 and the LT1/LS1. There is a slew of potential customers out there who, for whatever reason, believed that more horsepower was a bad thing. The Mustang GT is the prime example of mid-level V8 popularity. GM sold 305-powered F-bodies in droves in the '80s.

5 engines seems somewhat legit to me. I think it'd be an excellent idea if GM could do this financially speaking as far as profit vs money it takes to produce all 5. Heres my look at what the Camaro should get if 5 engines are a possibility.
1. Basic V-6 ( 230 H.P.-250 T.Q.) Auto-
LT=Luxury Touring
2. Perfomance V-8 (6.2)LS3(430 H.P.-450 T.Q.)Manual/Auto
Z28 Model
3. Super Performance V-8 (6.2)LS3(Supercharged)(550 H.P.-620 T.Q.)
Manual Only
SS Model
Now being that the Camaro may weigh in possibly lighter then the Mustang and most def. the Challenger I think the top dog Camaro would fare just fine with out 650 H.P...But then again theres never TOO much HP/TQ.

The only thing having 2 V6 power plants is going to do is drive up the price of the Base V8, then in essence driving up the price of anything higher than that.
We need a V6 @ 20-21k,
We need a V8 @ 27-30k,
We want a V8 bad boy @ 36-40k
But we will see.

I fixed it for you.

I don't agree. I mean, they can offer the 3.9L at about $21k, then the 3.6L at about ~$25k, then the base V8 at ~$28/29k.
Even if they only offer the 3.9L at $21k, you are still not going to get into the V8 for under $28k. So that means there is a $7,000 jump to the next engine option. IMO if they offer another V6 at ~300 HP in the $25-26k range, then that will really help to satisfy that void without necessarily increasing the cost of the V8. A $3,000 price jump from the top V6 to the base V8 is still a lot.
