You know, I'd love to compare these initial order numbers with receipt of delivery numbers. I'm curious to see how many people that preorder a $34k car actually take delivery of it.

Call it the "Rate of attrition". I'd be surprised if it was over 80%.

Make no mistake then- I WILL be in the 80% that take delivery.

I'm waiting for the G8 ST, or I might be joining the crowd. Even so, I would be waiting for things to calm down first. I try to buy well when I buy, I think many members here will be doing the same.

Oh, and mine would be a 1SS, not a 2SS.

I ordered my SS from a very large dealer just outside of Pittsburgh. The manager told me that they are only getting 19 camaros for the entire year.
3% of which would be SS's, thats roughly 5 cars in SS trim. He also said not to expect delivery until May as GM will be slow into production for quality control purposes. They have only had 3 other orders and all were SS2.

This is a large volume dealer, for them to be getting only 19 camaros surprised me. This means smaller dealers may not get any!

Time will tell.

The dealers have NO IDEA of what the V6/V8 production will be at startup. We heard from Fbodfather (I think- might have been a podcast...but anyways) that the initial production was slated close to a 50/50 split. Keep in mind that those numbers were prior to the "pre-order" stuff that are showing an overwhelming number of V8's desired initially. MY OPINION only is that they will up the % of V8's to match "requirements" in the early going.

My dealer said today that there will be no SS models during the first stage of production.

I don't believe him, but its not comforting. The dealers should know these things, especially if they are sitting on a 4 digit deposit.

I ordered the base model for the sole reason that i will be able to do upgrades the way i want in the near future.

Really wished they would let us know what these decal kits look like, does anyone have any information about the hood and side decal kits that are to be dealer installed?

Thanks
BW

My dealer said they were only getting 9. I'm #9 - no telling when I will actually get to place an an order, much less get it.

Just a heads up - I bought a Challenger SRT a few months ago. These were all supposedly pre-sold before they were built, but the original orderers declined to pay "market price" when the cars arrived. Make sure you know what to expect when it gets here.

This is so true....I know most of us on here have agreed, in writing, w/ our dealers for MSRP....let's hope GM doesn't screw things up for us....

It would be nice to have a pole to see what everyone ended up paying when they get their car in spring 09...should be very interesting...
