Just a thought...

To those who don't like this retro themed Camaro...
How long do we think it will be around anyways?
I mean, the Mustang IS getting a remodel in 09 or 10 from what we've heard right? Will this be a repeat of the 1st generation that lasted for 3 years then quickly changed generation and then started it's normal 10 year runs?

Re: Just a thought...

Hopefully they've learned from the 4th gen cars. Styling updates should be every 3 years, with some minor tweaks in between. Unless you're an expert it's impossible to tell 93 cars from 94-96...97 cars just had different tailights, wheels, and DRL's.

Re: Just a thought...

I think we'll see this basic design for quite a while. Many of the 'hard points' that are very difficult to change in mid-cycle refreshenings (e.g. cowl height, windshield position) kinda push the design towards the retro end of the scale. I think it'd be really hard to reskin the chassis in five years' time and make a radical enough change to make it look like a modern design.

Also I'm not convinced that GM has learned any lessons as far as design cycles. Look at the warmed over minivans, or the long-in-the-tooth 360s. And both of those are in larger markets than a Camaro would be.
