Does anyone know if the clutch setup in the Camaro will be the same as the Corvette? I've heard it is hydraulic, very smooth and user friendly (for the wife).

I'm sure it will be hydraulic.
I don't think any car has a cable actuated clutch anymore.

You don't follow GM vehicles much do you? It's been a long time since there has been a cable operated clutch in a corvette or camaro, or any GM for that matter. There is no way the camaro is not a hydraulic clutch.

I don't even know what a cable clutch is (other than on a motorcycle). I don't know who brought that issue into my question but it was not me.

Every GM car I've pulled engines/trans on has had strictly mechanical linkage to the arm on the manual trans. I hav'nt pulled a manual trans combo out of a car since my 69 camaro other than my brother in laws 57 vette last year. Everything else I've pulled has been automatics, including FWD cars.

I'm not a mechanical moron by any means....I just have not had exposure to a manual trans on a late model car. I don't run in the social circle of racers anymore. I've worked only on automatic trans cars for the past 15 years except for the vintage stuff so cut me some slack on looking for some valid information ok?

I haven't seen a cable clutch in a Chevy since the Vega.

As far as Camaros, the 83 was the last to have a linkage style clutch.

I brought it up. And that's because a clutch is either hydraulically actuated or cable actuated (I've never seen a hard linkage actuated clutch but I'm sure they're out there).
So when you asked if it was going to be hydraulic, I assumed you were asking if it was going to be hydraulic or cable.
If you didn't know that it was hydraulic, and you didn't think it was a cable, what other actuation method did you think it could be?

Now, the SHIFT linkage is something else. The old cars had a bunch of linkage that went from the shifter to the tranny. But new cars don't use those either. The shifter just goes directly into the top of the tranny.

My first vehicle had one. It was an '82 S-10 pickup with a 4 speed manual. I walked around for 3 years with my left leg twice the size of my right...

and to add, yup, the hydraulic clutch debuted with the S-197. I miss the cable clutch for the feel it had, but the hydraulic setup is better in day to day driving.
