Finally saw the Camaro in person

Don't know what sticker you were looking at, but definately was not a "stripper" R/T. The MSRP on a base R/T is currently $30,545 (up from $29,820 this past August).
That's exactly $200 more than a Camaro 1SS..... not $3,700
Next R/T (top model R/T) is the R/T "J" package at $32,480.
The Camaro 2SS is $33,430.
That's $950 less than the similar Camaro model.
You don't want that! What...and lose my nice sunny disposition??

But you also get much more.
Camaro SS gets SRT8 stuff with RT price tag.
RT doesnt get 14/14.4 inch rotors with 4 piston calipers on all 4 corners for example..

Both cars have the same weight & same rear suspension, and in base performance form, both cars have nearly identical pricing (though 2SS is nearly a grand over the R/T "J").
Camaro SS appears to be set up for a race course.
Challenger R/T appears to be set up for drag racing and an extensive Mopar catalogue.
Everything is a tradeoff, and choosing between the 2 is a matter of priorities, however, pricing isn't.

.....while the Challenger R/T has a two disc clutch, hill assist, better fuel economy (with manual), a lifetime powertrain warranty, a bigger trunk & IMO, a better back seat.

Hill Assist? IT REALLY IS A TRUCK!! Does it have Hill decent control too? How about adjustable suspension so it can get over the rocky terrain?
Challenger is such a big, obtrusive, slab sided tank.
Camaro will be the true sports car vs Mustang's cheapness. Challenger will be neither.
