This stuff happpens to the best of them. Bad heat treating from the factory is the usual culprit.

As long as you're not clutch dumping, you'll be OK 'till the recall.

Source? I'm just curious, because Tremec on lists one TR-6060. While they don't list specs on it, they list specs for the T-56 Magnum, which they say is the aftermarket equivilant and is tested to 700 lbs.

Yea the info isn't quite easy to find but this is what I've got after a quick search. I've always heard that the OEM 6-speed manual trans like the T56 and now TR6060 have several HP/Torque and weight ratings for each kind of spec. So lets say the Viper or ZR1 needs up to 700 ft/lbs but the Camaro SS only needs up to 430 ft/lbs. So Tremec makes a trans that fits each particular vehicle so that the OE gets the right gear ratios they want and keep the price down on internal parts that are just good enough for their application.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/wiki.p...ifications+(SS)

First example is the TR6060 used on the 2010 SS M6 and you can see it's listed as a M10 variant with rated power of 430 ft/lbs

http://media.gm.com/us/powertrain/en..._MH3_MG9_n.doc

Second example is a GM Press release that talks about the TR6060 upgrades for the 2009 MY for the Corvette. Note that in the overview section they talk about the ZR1 using the MH3 variant validated to 620ft/lbs and the CTS-V using the MG9 variant validated to 560 ft/lbs.

http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ng/tr6060.html

This article on the ZR1 from GMHTP talks about the changes made to the TR6060 (MH3) for the torque and power of the LS9 and yet they go on to say even with the changes the trans feels just like all the other TR6060's in their lineup.

http://media.gm.com/us/powertrain/en...a/10car_us.htm

Lastly here is a quick listing of all engine-trans combos offered by GM. At the bottom of the page it shows that all the different TR6060's offered for just for the LS3 manual trans. Camaro SS has the M10, while in the C6 coupe/convert- MM6, C6 Grand Sport coupe/convert- MZ6.

-The T56 Magnum and aftemarket non-OEM TR6060's I'm sure are more stout than what's in the production cars but as with everything else the price tag is higher too.
