Oh, I am certain that GM is satisfied with Camaro sales. In fact, initial sales have exceeded expectations. That's good for the brand and once again re-establishes Camaro as a staple in Chevrolet's line up. There was a target on Camaro's back for awhile and that part could have gone either way if say, sales were below 50K or so. But strong initial sales have secured the future of the Camaro. Based on those, the Board has reportedly approved the 6th gen.


All I'm saying is that based on the past few months sales numbers, pent up demand from the 7 year hiatus now appears met.

Not necessarily. I still see very few Camaros here in California, and those I do see are more likely to be of the V6 variety. When I do see an SS, its typically loaded with all the bells and whistles. Most dealers are still selling them over MSRP. I'm even seeing used 2010 SS Camaros going for near MSRP on dealer lots. The only real bargains right now appear to be used 2010 LS and 1LT Camaros.

I still plan to purchase, but I am waiting to see what the Z28 actually sells for and what that price includes. I may eventually end up with a used SS coupe or a used RS convertible instead.

If you like a loaded white with red stripes SS, I'm sure you can get a smoking deal on the one at my local dealership. It is a 2010 that has been here since a couple of months after the Camaro's first came out.

Needless to say, the dealership has not ordered another one.

Of course, up here, trucks sell far better than cars, as their only Cruze has been sitting there since the beginning also.

So now it depends on the track? Narrowing the criteria a bit aren't we? I am having trouble finding where GM has stated that they added weight to make them handle better? Where did you read that?

Wow! Would you care to elaborate more on your last sentence? Or maybe you can qualify your holier than thou attitude towards 2010-11 Camaro owners. Exactly what makes your opinion soooo much better than the 80,000+ owners out there?

So you are automatically assuming that this Z28 isn't going to outrun all of the current production Mustangs available?

Since we are assuming things, let's assume that the Z28 does outrun the GT, GT500, Boss, and Laguna Seca on any given road course. Would you retract your argument or would you still find a way to distance it away from the Z28 heritage?

You don't know what this next Z is going to be anymore than anyone else on this board. So to automatically chastise (sp?) it for not following a small percentage of its heritage is a bit premature don't you think?

I would want the Z/28 to outrun the Boss, Boss Laguna Seca and the GT500 around a track. Sadly, I'm also familiar with the laws of physics.

Well lets not speak to soon on the performance aspects of an LSA powered Camaro. It's basicly a CTS-V powertrain in a lighter package. If they bring over the magnetic shocks and bring the development of the suspension up to levels the aftermarket has achieved. The car will perform.

There may be debate on the weight of the car or what name GM gives it but sub 8min Ring times and low 12's in the upper 1teen trap speeds is should speak loudly.
It's certainly going to be strong competion to the BOSS and GT500 on the strip and road course.

No ones telling you to buy the god damned car.. but if you know you aren't going to buy it.. it isn't what you want.. blah blah blah why are you here crying about it over and over? What is the point?

The point for some people is that they want a different car than what will likely be presented for sale. If they don't make that point, then GM and Chevrolet can assume that all goals are being met for all possible buyers. Some people don't buy a car based on what everyone else is buying. Will the new Z/28 be an overall good performer based on what we think it's going to be? Absolutely, I have no doubt it will be an excellent performer. Would it perform better if it weighed 200-500 pounds less? I can promise you it would. When I bought my Z/28 in '69, I didn't buy it based on what others were buying or what was supposed to be a super package put together by Chevrolet, I was already in an Olds 442 Ram Air and I did all the research of the current GM models back then to decide which car best met my particular wants/needs. I researched the weight, gear ratios available, power/RPM capabilities, handling, and plenty of other criteria. And after extensive research I decided that the '69 Z/28 best met my wants/needs at that point in time. Many of my friends and aquaintances were buying SS Camaros that either met their wants/needs, if it didn't it was because they did not research carefully. Everyone is free to buy the car they want out of what is available, if there is nothing available that meets your criteria then you can let manufacturers know that information. So instead of complaining about others voicing their wants and needs, please buy what you want and let others do the same.
