Camaro Cancelled?

Camaro Cancelled?
I live in Lansing, MI. I was watching the local news last night and very short comment was made that GM is considering canceling the new Camaro. They said something about some possible Federal regulations or something. I kinda missed that part because I was still trying to comprehend what I just heard (Camaro canceled). If this is true I will be totally bummed. I was planning on being one of the first kids on the block with this new car. Someone tell me the news got it wrong....

Don't even START this one!!!!!
Read this thread (Lutz: No more RWD), in particular, Post #26, Scott's (Fbodfather) comments ... if anyone knows about the Camaro's fate, it's him .
Don't worry, the Camaro is safe!!!
[/fear and panic ]

Ok. I figured I would get some posts like that. This was my first post here. I have been lurking here for quite a while reading as much as I can about this car. After watching the news last night I figured I should register and tell everyone what I heard. Simple as that.

Stupid media . Since you're new, we'll let this one slide . In future, trust nothing the media says ... come here first for accurate info regarding the Camaro, and almost anything else "automotive" related!!

After reading your link about the RWD cars, it makes sense. I am sure that is what the media was talking about. They did specifically say the Camaro might be canceled but that article states the Camaro is still coming. Good news.

Just once it'd be nice if the media could be 100% accurate, actually RESEARCH their stories (what a novel concept!) and not assume things.

I'm locking this one down since it's just poor reporting by a local news station.
Read the whole Lutz interview. Camaro has not been cancelled. G8 has not been cancelled. Everything on the drawing board after that has been placed on hold (not cancelled, just on hold for now) until GM gets a better feel as to what the Feds are going to do with future CAFE standards.
