Wow! This is a great time to be a Muscle car fan! I cant wait until one on one compero's with the 1LE Camaro vs 13 Boss 302 and the ZL1 vs 13 GT500. Personally I think the Boss still has the edge!

1LE?? Well that's a wonderful name, lol. Couldn't they come up with something a little more inspirational than that? "Boss" sounds a whole lot more appropriate for a track edition.

Yeah i was liking the new gear as well but then I read about the gears in the new transmission which are actually numerically lower which seems like it would make the gear almost the same as it is now. The regular SS has a steeper first gear compared to this tranny so they are almost the same gear wise.

They should have at least came up with a 100 pound weight savings over an SS to be truly a 1LE. I bet some tweaks to the seats and exhaust would get half that.

Sub 3 min times at VIR are impressive. Even without the MRC shocks.
GM seems to have figured out how to get the 5th Gen Camaro to handle like it should. Preliminary reports seem to state the ZL1 and 1LE to be very capable machines on road courses.
Not sure if weight loss is in the cards for the 5th Gen so maybe that's why it's 1LE and not Z28....

They didn't just pick the name out of thin air. Previous generations of Camaro had a 1LE package. It is kind of like how Pontiac had the WS6.

Yeah, because that what matters to potential buyers, what the RPO codes were 25 years ago in 1987. I get the history of it, but there's better names that will ring with and excite the average buyer.

Don't see how it is any worse than ZL1 (or Z28). I suspect that target buyer for this 1LE car isn't buying it for name recognition, but for the hardware and performance the car offers.
