Re: Build Your 2009 Camaro thread II (Prices Included)
Any chance you could drop the leather requirement from the premium packages and leave them as standalone? Either that, or make the HUD available as stand alone. I want cloth and HUD, which isn't doable as it is now. If you took the leather out, you could still use the same harness, and keep the power functions on the seat, you'd just have cloth instead of leather.

However Mustang has certain packages as well as other GM cars.
There may be some production cost included in these packages, where it is easier for the factory to build these options as a package compared to stand alone options.

From what I understand the LS9 is a SC 6.0L....I wouldn’t quite call it the LS7 replacement, seeing how the LS7 is a 7.0L....I think there is more coming as far as larger displacement V8s.......

I suspect GM would want to keep the power options together due to the wiring harnesses. But seat fabric shouldn't be a problem there. Also, on the Z28 and maybe the SS, how about some 6 piston caliper upgrades to go along w/ the brake package?

The LS3 is a 420hp LS2 replacement. The LS9 is a 525hp LS7 replacement. Both displacing the same ci. I think he meant that it wasn't a direct replacement in terms of cubic inches or induction, but certainly would be considered the 2009 version of the top dog engine.

Well the LS3 & 9 are not the same as the LS2.
I don’t know the specific upgrades, but the LS3 will be making more power with DOD compared to the LS2. But I assure you they won’t just rename the motor with a 20hp gain. I’m sure there will be a focus on fuel savings.
Other than the LS3 having the same cubic inches as the LS9, I expect the similarities to stop there. It’s going to have a big blower sitting on top of it and the hardware to back it up.
I didn’t include the LS7 replacement because:
#1: It will being going in the Vette before the Camaro ever sees it
#2: The Camaro will be getting the Blown 6.0L in the second year of production
#3: I'm not even sure what the LS7's replacement is, but I don’t think it is the LS9, I think it is a large displacement NA V8, just my guess though.
You talk about justifying the business case for the Z28; you have to look past just the engine here. You’re not paying $40 for a supercharger. The Z28 will include the most standard options in the line up plus it will be racecar inspired like the Z06. Not just your average Camaro....
Its all in my original post….

The LS9 is a Supercharged 6.0L V8 that will make over 500 hp
The new 6.0L NA V8 to replace the LS2 will be the LS3....it will make about 420 hp
I don’t have any specifics on this other possible LS7 replacement. I just don’t think the LS9 will be the straight replacement for it.
I don’t know how much clearer I can be.

Other then that like what you did!

I have been straight told the Z28 will be the top model. Not only are you beating a dead horse with this topic, it doesn’t even matter anymore. Its already been decided.
Other then that, thank you
