I've talked it over with my dad, and if we can get a 400 hp Ls2 6-speed manual SS convertible for $35,000, we will take two. one for him, and one for me.

Please build our cars soon.

....

ahh just as i suspected... According to the American Heritage dictionary of the English Language...
Concept, is a noun with one definition being "A general idea derived or inferred from specific instances or occurrences. "

A general Idea... 19200... isnt very general...

I think this car is... well i bit more thought out then anyone here leads to believe...

also Lutz comented on it would be built not in canada... so they are giving thought to that as well... too much thinking out for a concept

you are right, i'm not in a position to buy it right now.. (by the way, i had no trouble getting an 15k loan on my camaro 2 1/3 years ago, when i was 21, on my own without a cosigner.. sure it was 72 months w/ 5.95%.. but i got it)

my car will get paid off at latest by sometime in 2009, i'll likely pay it off early.. i'll probably have a much better paying job by then, and i'll have paid off most of my debt (car, school...) i think i'll be able to get one.. and this time it'll be a v8 with a 6 speed

um.. if the rate of change of the inflation rate for the next 2 to 3 years stays the same as it has the past few years, it'll probably be mor elike around $21,400

IMHO...If the "Concept" turns out to be the car we all hope it is, I think you'll see alot of mustang owners selling their 'stangs in order to buy a camaro (or a challenger for that matter). The only guy I know who ownes a current gen 'stang bought it because he likes the look. He's already said he'd be trading it in for a '09 Camaro. I think alot of people rushed out and bought a 'stang because when it first came out it was pretty much the only car in it's class (was out before the GTO and Charger I'm pretty sure), so sales #'s were inflated. All those mustangs will be 4 or 5 years old by the time the camaro comes out...it'll be time for a new ride for alot of those people. Just my .02

Re: Base model (v6) $19,200 per Lutz ??

Well, Lutz has also stated indirectly that the LS7 could go in the camaro (not a good business idea), and not too long ago he stated that the Camaro would not be back for a long long time. In GM speak, that is well beyond 2009.

Also, shooting for 120-150k units is laughable. One of the many killers of the last gen was the need to make 150k units, when they were making 70k, it was unsustainable. In the US today, the only heavy hitters left are trucks.
If they make it sustainable at 50k, but have capacity to increase to 150k, then they will be able to profit from it as sales increase or decrease.

Also, look how many import cars sell LESS THAN 70k units and are VERY SUCCESSFUL!!!

This ranges from BMW (yes I did notice they are more expensive) to Hyundai, but BMW does not even make 70k total, and if you are going to spout off that the Koreans can make cars cheaper, GM has factories in Korea AND China, where it is even cheaper than Korea.

Not saying they should make cars there, but maybe the should make some more of the parts over there.

19,200 eh? Not bad.

You can get a LOADED Mustang GT for $28,000 which impressed me (Interior upgrades, V8, Manual, Sound System Upgrade). Ford did an excellent job pricing this thing.

Looks like GM's ready to compete and hopefully you can get a manual V8 LOADED for less then 30,000. If so, then that will be my next car (have to put extra commission checks towards the Blazer payment, LOL). I'm sure the top of the line model will be over 30k which will probably put it out of my price range but we will see. Finances can change really fast over 2-3 years...

Pricing of the mid level V8 will be more key then anywhere else. If its priced right along side the GT, and offering more content, we can see a good base crowd building.
