Any idea as to what the cost will be?
I've done some searches but the threads usually end up becoming debatable blogs rather than jotting any idea's as to what they consider the price might become.
What will a 2010 Camaro LT Cost
What will a 2010 Camaro LS Cost
What will a 2010 Camaro SS Cost?
How much more will an RS package add to the cost?
I know no OFFICIAL prices have been released... but in your oppinion, what do you think the numbers will be?
I want one of these but I have to be realistic... if it cost over $30K to have a V8 I'm going to need to settle for the 4th gen for a long time because there's no way I'm going to pay $5 - 600 per month in car payments even for this car...

Note: I have not included the delivery charge of $755 in the above comparison as I believe it is everyone's intent to focus on the MSRP.

This may be a pipe dream but I really hope these are closer to the prices so they can stay competitive.
LS = $22,000
LT = $24,000
LT (RS) $25,500
SS = $27,000
SS (RS) = $29,000
I think the SS(RS) package will include interior upgrades as well as the LT(RS) package features.

Just take a look at comparable Mustang prices add a couple of % and that is what the prices will be. There are lots of guesses here but the one thing all of the folks from GM have said about pricing is that it will be competitive with the Mustang.

Enough with the "Shock & Awe".... The 2009 Mustang GT starts at $26,245 - There is absolutely NO WAY the SS starts $5,755 above the GT. PERIOD.

That being said, in response to the OP's question:
base V6- 25k
V6 RS loaded- 28.5k
base V8- 30k
RS SS loaded- 34.5k
RS SS loaded including leather, sunroof, chrome wheels, major stereo upgrade, etc...

Assuming that what we've been told about "competitive pricing" is true, then, yes, the SS (base) will probably start around $3500 more IMO. Competitive is "apples to apples" and the Camaro SS is NOT directly comparable to the Mustang GT. First, you're talking almost 75 more HP (LS3) or 25% more. That's a big number. Having seen one of the pre-productions in Buffalo last weekend, let me tell you that the Mustang is nowhere in this car's league; at least in my opinion. I would gladly pay 3k more for the base SS than the base Mustang GT; it's absolutely worth it- NO QUESTION IN MY MIND.
You can say all you want that the SS is not directly comparable to the GT and you're not necessarily wrong but that is not how the public at large is going to see it. If GM takes a similar attitude when pricing this car then we will see another sales bloodbath similar to when the SN95 ran GM's fourth-gen right out of the market in spite of a ~100 hp deficit.

Isn't the restyled Mustang supposed to go on sale about the same time as the Camaro? Comparisons to an outgoing model will be moot.

On point #2, I completely agree and couldn't have said it better myself!

Some of you guys are confusing performance with price. There are many cars that the Camaro will out perform that will cost more than the Camaro. Regardless of what happens with the performance of the Mustang, it is their competitor therefore this is where the price will be set. If the Camaro has 25% more HP it will not be able to demand 25% more for its price. While many of us here will glady pay more for the performance advantages of the Camaro, none of us are average consumers. The fact that we come to this website is evidence that we are fans of the car. The average customer will look at what they can afford or are willing to pay first then they will look at performance and features to narrow the field.

Exactly. From almost all accounts, the base Camaro is a fantastic car. This doesn't mean that GM is going to abandon pricing the base Camaro as an upper-entry level car. The base Camaro has always been a car that was attainable for all. If they depart from that scheme I'm not sure the sales will be there. This is why I believe we will see the base Camaro for around $22k. If you can't get a Camaro for less then $25k then they will alienate the largest part of their market from the first 4 generations. And with the current market conditions I don't think GM can afford to do that.
