Is the 5th Gen. still considered F-car status ???

F-car was the designation GM used for the chasis, so, no, since the new Camaro will be built on the (GM now using Greek alphabet for chasis) zeta platform...
but it's been hinted "F" could be used as the vehicle identifier in the VIN by GM... so maybe.

I would hope so, it wouldn't matter much to the average joe buying the car, but to us die-hards, that designation would signify something much greater. Afterall, it has been branded as an f-body for many years, just for it too change over for the next generation would be somewhat pecuilar to see.

I havent heard one thing that differentiates this Camaro from previous F body cars. Yes its a version of Zeta and shares parts with other platforms such as Commodore. Though its changed specifically for Camaro. There is no Camaro AWD etc... Sounds like at least the 1-3rd Fbody gens that shared parts with other cars to me... I dont know if the 4th shared anything with other cars. Personally I dont care about the F designation name one way or the other, but I dont have a problem with GM slapping it on the VIN.

I've heard very few people say "I drive a W-car" or "I drive a Y-car" -- but I hear a lot of people talk about 'F' cars.........
The "F" designation is a tradition.............and while I cannot confirm anything, we hear you.

I could care less whether or not it's an "F-body"... just build the damn thing already.
