If you want a 2010 MY I would order ASAP, based on what I've heard from all the dealers I have talked to. I have NOT been keeping up on these forums though...

And that's exactly what the dealers want you to do.

It seems to me that since it is a 2010 model going into production in March of '09 the 2010 is going to have a longer than normal production run. Yeah the first 11,000+ are spoken for, but that is no where near what can be produced in the next year and a half. You will have at least another year to order by my estimate/guess.

If it's like a typical GM ordering/production cycle, you should be able to order one right up to April of 2010.
Maybe Jason or Scott could clarify.

Just got this email

Counting down the days until you can get behind the wheel of your very own all new Camaro? You're in fast company. Less than one month remains to preorder one at introductory prices. Be one of the first to own a true 21st-century sports car.

Which one will you choose? It's available in a V6 with 304 hp and an estimated 27 MPG highway2 or in an SS, which generates 426 hp and goes from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds.

To preorder, download a spec sheet and then go to a local dealer to place your order. Be sure to hold your place in line before March 15, 2009.
though this is for pre orders.

So what's up with "introductory prices"?

Those of us who have preordered received a letter from GM guaranteeing introductory MSRP pricing will not go up no matter how long we have to wait for our camaro to be built.
It is conceiveable that prices will go up later in the production run, even though it is possible your dealer might honor supplier/employee pricing by then to offset such an increase.
But you're rolling the dice either way, and with the current financial mess for GM and Nancy Pelosi and her friends trying to make policy for the auto manufacturers do you really want to roll the dice and wait?

As it is, MSRP on this car is the most I'm willing to pay for it. I love the car, but I don't love it at more than $40K drive out, which is about what I'm looking at. Any more than that and it's just nosed out of my price range.

I'm actually starting to be less and less enthusiastic about the whole deal. A lot will depend on what happens two months from now. By that time, we'll know official MSRP numbers (until I see it on the official website, I don't consider it "official" even though we've got a good idea) and will have a good idea of how production is going.

If I'm going to have to wait a year before I can get my hands on one, if the car is marketed with some feature (let's say...ambient lighting) and it's not ready/available and there is no reduction in price, or if the pricing goes up before I can get one, and if the amount of dealer crap doesn't decrease somewhat...it may very well turn me off to the whole purchase.

I really hope not, but I do think we'll have a better idea how things are going in a few months.
