haha. yeah im an idiot. now if i had bought a gt500 ....then you could call me an idiot.actually it is underpowered at 500 hp. throw a blower on the 6.2 in the camaro. whats the hp numbers compared to the gt500? yeah it is under powred. look at the gt mustang. they finally hit 300+ just last year! thats terrible.very under powered for a "muscle car". the 1/4 mile time is rediculous for a supercharged car with 500 hp. the vette beats its time and its just a small v8 with no power adder. the camaro is making 400+ with no power adder. 500 hp is an embarassment to the gt500 havinga supercharger. im sorry. i would expect more from a supercharged v8. look at the cts-v even. it has at least 550 and im sure its heavier than the gt500. that car would destroy the gt500!

Talk about proving me right! haha.

You do realize the GT500 only has a 5.4L engine right? And you do realize that little 5.4L engine is capable of handling boost that would make the 6.2L you mentioned go "boom", right? Factory forged internals are a marvelous thing.

Do you even know what kinds of times GT500's have run with traction? Low 12's on stock tires and high 11's with DR's/slicks. Not bad considering it weighs over 600 pounds more than a Vette.

The CTS-V is indeed an amazing car. As you guessed, it is significantly heavier than a GT500 at about 400 pounds more! It has been running in the 12.4 to 12.6 range in most tests I have seen and we have seen GT500 times in the 12.6 to 12.8 range in most magazine tests. The two cars have nearly identical power to weight ratios of around 7.8 lbs/hp with the slight edge going to the CTS-V. The CTS-V has slightly higher trap speeds with its extra 56 horsepower and slightly faster quarter miles times, likely due to traction from the Michelin PS2 tires. That all sounds about right to me and certainly doesn't look like anyone is "destroying" anyone!

What will the 2010 GT500 do with 540hp? How about the 2011 GT500 that is rumored to get an aluminum block and lose about 100 pounds off the nose of the car? Come on man, give credit where credit is due!

I know what you mean, but he has made one valid point (even if he didn't mean to) and that is the GT500 could use some larger rear tires and/or better compound.

I also can't figure out why they went with that weird upper control arm setup as opposed to a torque arm. Maybe they will change that in the future (but I doubt it).

I have several specific issues with the GT500....but it was his silly ranting rambling that show how dumb it would be to try to have a reasonable dialogue. So I just didn't bother.

yes i know it has the 5.4POS, i know what will happen if i supercharge my 6.2(ill smoke the little gt500). well if they do get an aluminum block, congrats adn welcome to the 21st century. hey you can be as big of a mustang fan as you want. i thik their junk and underpowered and not worth 50K+. whether it be a gt500, gt500kr,gt500pos....whatever it is its not worth the money and its very over weight and under powered for the day and age were in. the bench mark has been set by the camaro in the past and the mustang is just now getting to that mark with their gt's. as far as supercharging my camaro, the procharger kit is putting over 600hp at the motor. i think its 620 or 30. at the wheels.....maybe 575. and im still thousands less than the mustgna gt 500 and the handling and braking will be a HELL of alot better. hey, were never gonna see on the same level. you love mustangs , i love camaros. its just the way it goes. i dont think their worth a dime of my money. only mustnag i see worht any money .........the good old MUSTANG 2's!!!!hell yeah. thats an amazing machine(sarchasm)

its not ignorance or stupidity on my behalf, of any of my reasoning. its in the numbers. looks at my past post on the gt500 vs an09 g8 gxp. the gxp is very similar, almost the exact car, as the new camaro. its times are as fast, if not faster than the gt500. thats what im basing my stats on and my logic. should something change drastically about the camaro, compared to the gxp, then ill change my thinking. but right now its almost the same car. i think the tires are even smaller on the gxp than they are on the camaro. do a little research yourself if you dont believe me. look up the gxp numbers and compare them to the gt500.its pretty shocking for a 4 door car.

OMG you make me cry. Please tell me you're a 16 year old highschool student. It would at least make me less likely to defenestrate you.

Mustang GT has been sitting at 300hp as the base number since 2005, not last year. (not to mention that in terms of actual horsepower to the wheels and overall performance it blows the CRAP out of any muscle car from the original era. Also...it's a pony car, not a muscle car) If you put a blower on the stock 6.2 and tune it to give you more power than the GT500, and it's not going to last very long as it was not designed for that. (unless you change some internals, and even then it's still not as strong a block)

Also...you called the vette V8 "only a small one" but you're comparing the vette V8 (6.2L) to the GT500 V-8 (5.4L).

And your spelling of ridiculous is.....ridiculous. In short, your knowledge and level of self expression tell me that you're probably going to be limited financially to something like the Mustang GT (which is a fine car that I'd love to own). So, basically, quit worrying about the GT500, vette, and CTS-V....
