Ouch, not that I know of...I believe 60-80k or so...depending on what "extras" you get.

But vehicle pricing was pretty stagnant through most of the 00's. It definitely wasn't 4-5% to justify the current 1SS pricing.

I got pricing from MSN Auto section. The 2002 SS you are referencing that motor trend tested was like a $6,000 option where the car was sent to SLP for a hood, tires, wheels, exhaust, and a bunch more optional stuff. That was on top of the V8 pricing already. The Z28 I was referencing was the base V8 on the 4th gen, like the 1SS is on a 5th gen. Apples to Apples.

This.

I have felt this way since it started becoming clearer just what a 5th Gen Camaro was going to be...

yeah, like i said it was an ss and it was 32k. n omatter where it was sent, they were sold as ss and 32k was the sticker on a 2002 SS. and like i said i had a 99 v6 that was 22k. so yeah lets compare apples to apples.

the more i think about it and read about it, i really like the concept of the new Mustang BOSS 302. this...is what the Z28 should be. THIS.....is what the Z28 needs to compete against. the LSA model needs to be called something else. and the price range that the boss 302 is at(40k) is perfect for what it is. chevy needs a z28 like the boss.

Just bring out a Camaro Type-R with a slightly hotter NA motor, little more aggressive rear gears, wider front wheels, Koni shocks, and PS2s.

I agree. I don't think we'll be getting something like that on this gen though.

In 2002, what is now the SS was called the Z28. That is your "apples to apples" comparison. At this point in time, there is no 5th Gen equivalent to the 2002 SS, and it doesn't really appear as if there is going to be any time soon.

If you think otherwise, then I suppose when the 2012 Z28 comes out, you'll need to compare it to the 2002 Z28.

Ya.

You are so far out on this one, I am not even going to touch it. Do a little research next time.

If you compare the amount of material that goes into the 5th gen compared to the 4th it is a greater value, added side airbags, standard brembos, onstar, XM, IRS, 6 speed auto, the content is way above what you were getting for your money in the 4th gen. 4th gen was basically an engine wrapped in a shell barely capable of holding up to twisting in half compared to the 5th gen. I'm no lover of the 5th gen but it is more car for the money, it just isn't a faster car than it was 10 years ago unfortunately.
