OEM Audio system

Sorry have been trying to do my research but the internet in afghanistan isnt the greatest. I ordered a 2SS / RS from my father and asked for the best audio system they can put in it. However I was wondering does the 9 speaker premium system include 2 subs in the trunk? I told him prior to delivery to drop the car off at their aftermarket audio affiliate and give them $1200 to play with for subs, cap and amp for the trunk. However if the car OEM system is adequate enough I could save myself $1200. Anyone have opinions, comments or any general knowlodge about the quality of the system included? Thx in advance for any info

Hmm well anything from hip hop to alternative ... a wide variety, however I like my bass. I just dont want the bass to drown out the music. to put it in perspective, I had the pioneer system in my cobalt with the 10 inch in the the trunk and that was barely adequate. Im assuming this OEM system blows that one out of the water?

The factory system is pretty decent and rather capable for a stock system, but from the sounds of it, it might not be enough for you. Test one out before you upgrade, it might do okay for you.

Jus got an email from my father ... All he said is that its a 9 speaker system with a 245 watt amp .... Im jus wondering if 2 of those 9 speakers are considered the subs in the trunk or if they are ordered seperate? Jus good to know so I can pick what setup I want in the trunk. My father isnt intune with car audio that much haha

The OEM 2010 Camaro Boston Acoustics system has 9 speakers total.

1 center on dash
2 in the doors
2 in the pillars
2 in the rear seating area
2 on the back deck

If you want to count the 2 on the back deck as "subs" you might be stretching it.

The system is pretty good for factory. My suggestion is to try it as is and then if you need more, build upon it.

There is a GM Accessory (#92213214) for the 2010 Camaro. Its like $1200. Factory MTX Audio Sub Box (which includes 2 10" subs + 200 watt Amp). I just got mine from GMpartsdirect yesterday. This accessory makes the audio system an 11 part audio system. You can follow the link in my signature (page 3) to see pictures of it.

Nope, i haven't decided whether to install myself, or to take it to dealer to have it installed. Its pretty much plug and play. But I'm afraid that Theft Deterrent system is like the older systems' Theftlock.

Yeah, I saw your other thread about that. Did you check the manual?

I'd like to see pics of that thing installed, and of course, how it sounds.

owner's manual says it works by learning a portion of the VIN. The system does not operate if it is stole or moved to different vehicle. I take that as, as long as its hooked back up to my car, it should be good to go. But the dealer pretty much quoted me 1 hr labor. And if im gonna need a code to unlock it, i might as well have them install it.

And no doubt, i will post pictures of it installed. I would install it myself. But there is some drilling involved.

Hmm...maybe you can try it, and if you get stuck, then pay the dealership?
