HID headlight ?

hey guys!

i have what looks like a film on the inside of my HID headlights. i was wondering if there was a way to pull the headlight apart and see if it really is something. Is the headlight a sealed unit or is there a way to disassemble that?

Re: HID headlight ?

I don't know if you can pull it apart without "cracking" it open. Have you tried your dealership? Is it both headlights or just one?

Re: HID headlight ?

i wouldnt take the headlights apart. ive done that on past cars and no matter what you do, it will never seal and you will get moisture in. just take it back to the dealership and maybe they will order you a newl ight.

the film is the gasses from the bulb. its normal

Re: HID headlight ?

They are a sealed unit and are $800 each retail (around $600 dealer cost, yes, ouch). I wouldn't take the chance messing with them, it might be worth taking to the dealer.

Re: HID headlight ?

worst case, in the future if you wanted to order now headlights, they are now offered on ebay as an aftermarket headlight assembly and the halo rings are around 3-4 times brighter than factory. for your immediate problem, i'd take it to the dealership. if they do damage anything, its there responsibility to fix it.
