Apparently, if you reverse the polarity on the factory RS LED halo it turns red.

The whole thread is a bit drama filled, but it is proven.

Re: Free Mod:Red Halos

Who needs more drama when they are trying to enjoy their car?

Anyway...we are discussing it here:

The thread was started by a person who actually did it.

Re: Free Mod:Red Halos

In the thread you posted, there are after market LEDs behind the factory ones. The one I posted, they did prove that the polarity reversal does indeed work b/c the factory LEDs are dual white/red LEDs.

Re: Free Mod:Red Halos

Yep...you are correct. It was mentioned in post #8, but I think there is another one around here that also discusses it, I might have gotten them both mixed up with each other.

I was wondering how reversing polarity could turn white to red. But I still don't know why reversing the polarity makes it happen.

Sorta makes me wonder why they made them that way...

My thoughts were that the LED's used in the Halos are also used for other applications. Maybe they did that for use in emergency vehicles, or perhaps the LED's for the halos are also that way for backup light/brake light on some other vehicle.

Re: Free Mod:Red Halos

Yeah...or maybe the LED they sourced was cheaper than getting one that didn't have it because it is more common, etc.

Whatever, it is pretty cool. I want to make a switch for each headlight that changes them. Is it me or do they look a touch orange?

A touch orange? If that makes them close to Inferno Orange I am going to check this out.

Re: Free Mod:Red Halos

Well, it doesn't look like it in the images in the thread mentioned above...

But it does look that way in this video:

And I agree, I'd like mine to be Amber...which is legal...and is a decent match for my Inferno orange.
